Help!
The manual says that my next upgrade to my apprentice spells is player made.
I feel dense because I haven't figured it out yet, and I am a level 10.
Thanks for any tips... Oh I already joined a society, but am still lost.

You can craft your own App III's which is pretty easy, or you can buy App II's from a vendor (easiest and cheapest). While you should do either of these, you can also get Adept I's from mob loot. The problem with relying on Ad I's is that if you don't have your other spells first, you will be a crappy spell-caster.

Don't think that matters.. I just jump to app III. And yes, making app III spells is very easy. You'll figure it out soon enough. And they're cheap on brokers.. maybe 3-10 silver.

Anyone can make thier very own tier 1 App III spells. For first upgrades, if you are not making them and harvesting for yourself, I would buy the App III's or the Adept I's (the most commonly dropped Adept I's can be purchased for 4 and 5s if you watch the broker boards). Though I have found 3 Adept I's I needed just killing Witherstraw Scarecrows.

Then go for your mastery quests. Adept III's are selling for app 10g here and there for Tier 2, I have seen Tier 1 for 3g. I don't see the purpose of upgrading Tier 1 spells after level 20, as they are grey anyhow, so the App III should suffice. I got a couple corals and a couple silvers so will probably make my Fascinate Adept III, and the ones I use most often. Other than that, I don't much see the point of spending that kind of money at the early levels. Up to discussing I guess, and is a class decision I am sure, that is just how I see it.

If you want to make them yourself, join your local wholesaler's society and buy a few of the essentials books and start crafting. If you want to buy them, find a broker or get a bulletin board (purchased from NPC) to hang on your wall.

Not realy much else to be said.

As has been listed they are a fairly simple item to make. Just all the books available for your crafting level, scribe them and flip through whats available. Level up making junk (I suggest Elm Strong Boxes and Leather Back Packs) until you can actualy make the componets you need for your final product. Your main areas will be the Chemistry table to make the Dye, Oils, Washes, and Resisn you will use a lot. After that lots of paper. :)

Minor heads up, make at least 1 of everything you can. You get more exp for a new item (unknown) then making multiple of something you can. I tend to level up before I can finish crafting all the new items I have scribed.. at least up till level 18 were it starts to slow down. ;)

Note: Once you have aquired the relevant upgrade, just right click and scribe it (quality is not a factor). This will upgrade your spellbook to the new level. For example Apprentice I to Apprentice III.

You do not have to go in step, you can go directly from Apprentice I to Adept 3 if your high enough level to scribe the book.

Apprentice II can be store purchased, but are a waste of funds. You can get 3's from players for about the same price. Adept 1's are dropped by Mobs while Adept 3's can be made but use very rare componets so tend to be expensive.

Not realy much else to be said unless you want a step by step crafting walk through. (Do the IOR crafting quest in the tower, covers most of the basics).

On that note, use your trade craft skills as often as power will allow. The effects will take place even if your not reacting to something. For example, something that Raises Progress for a small power cost, will raise your Progress every time you trigger it during a cycle. So hit it often. :)

One other thing if you chose to craft spells for mages/priests, be prepared for a shock when you can't find any quills or paper from craftsmen after level 10.

I hit lvl 12 last night and decided to try and make my priest's ward and DoT App III spells and couldn't find any quills or paper. I tried Freeport_Crafting and was basically told "Welcome to the club, we've all been looking for days/weeks". If you check out the crafting forums on SOE's site, you'll see that everyone is having the same problem.

If you do find some Quill's or Paper, it's likely to be so overpriced that it's not worth it. You could probably get the Adept version of your spell for half the price of the ingredients.

Solo crafting simply is not possible. EQ2 f'ed it in this manner. Every step above 9 requires you to have something that only another player can make, and it only gets worse at 19.

As a crafter, I spend about half my time trying to buy the supplies I need from other players. I have an alt Alcamist(which every crafter WILL need)and an alt Provisioner but still am hunting down componets I cant make most of the day.

If you realy want to craft, you must be in a group or guild that can supply you with the side items. Be ready to use the /auction and trade channels a lot. :)

The crafting channels on my server seem to be really unproductive from the conversations I've been in. I don't know any crafting Guilds on my server. I suppose it's time for me to raise a craftsman alt just so I can make my own stupid spells.

If I make alts can I level them as an artisian and now worry about leveling as an adventurer?

Also, why is it that people sell blackened iron and other rare gathered items at 2 and 3 gold...Most of the stuff made with them is selling for less than 1 gold...and the stuff isn't that great anyhow...I think the people on my server are retarded...

I really like the TS system (other than the aforementioned fact that you have to be dependent on other players), but I'm beginning to wonder if it's really worth it...I'm a lvl12 outfitter and nothing I can make other than backpacks is better than what I already have...I guess maybe I need to be a lvl20 outfitter and a lvl16 druid for it to work (is that possible? thats pretty well what I'm asking above)
