I really hope this refers to choosing a surname without assistance from a guide/GM.

From everything I've read, GMs will not assist with last names. I know in EQ1 you could make your last name like Dvinn, (an example) then petition a GM, and the GM could change it to D'Vinn. I don't think they'll be doing that in this game.

At least not until enough people ***** about it. Smiley: grin

This is what I am thinking on the naming policy. On EQ1 for years they would change names that violated the policy in any way shape or form, but the last year or so of EQ1 they stopped changing names. My 70 beastlord was named Gambkeelzju Cuzjusux, I REQUESTED a name change through a GM because I wanted to be just Gamb like my old main 65 bard was. The GM informed me he would not change my name. After digging and clawing at the GM for almost an hour, he finally gave up on his scripted responses and informed me of this, "we dont really change names anymore because Sony added a 75 dollar fee for name changes you can request personally on the sony webpage". That about summed it up for me. Money. I suspect EQ2 will be the same with offensive names being changed when someone gets around to it, and all of you people who want a McApplehead or IGot'VD last name having to pay 75 bucks to sony to get a second capital or an apostrope.

I got my last name with no problem, but it is a completely original last name and nothing from a book or movie. Yes, they are strict on names, which is good IMHO, though sometimes they do seem to take it overboard.

Seriously though, I don't want to see any Legolas's or any Baggins or Lestats for last names. That's just beyond unoriginal... though my husband tried to have a character named Sven and it was rejected for some reason, so I think there's some glitches in the naming system yet. Pendragon, however.... associated with many King Arthur stories. I don't think they'll allow it.

The last name you are trying to use is from a movie, thus I really do doubt they will allow it even with a petition. Good luck to you anyway.

Not to mention legend. *weeps for that thing we once called literature*
