Freedom Quest.........help.Follow

OK, I found this package type thing off a mob. When I examine it, I got the freedom quest. First mission was to kill some crabs so that I could cut open the straps on the package. After killing a ton of craps, I got the 5 claws need, however, it says I couldn't get the package open. Try to kill some Dark Coven Conjurers to see if they have anything that may be able to open the package.

Yesterday, I was able to kill a few Conjurers but my quest journal wouldn't update. Not even the "you did not find X quest item." as you would normally get when killing the right quest mob.

So, I am looking for any info anyone might have on this quest. Is it broken, am I killing the wrong mobs, etc.
