Sorry if this has been asked before but I don;t have premium Memebrship so no searching for me.

I'm thinking about taking a hiatus from FFXI and buying this game. I've never played the original but this one looks interesting. My roomate has WoW but it's a little too "toonish" for me.

How's the solo-ability in EQ2? Nonexistent like FFXI or somewhat solo-able?

I have a LVL 46 PLD as my Main and thinking about PLD for EQ2. What's the role of PLD in EQ2? Tank, backup, or support?

Any .02 would be helpful. Thanks.

as far as soloing goes, see this thread, for a pretty good discussion. there have been several other threads with good info on soloing as well.

havent played a pally in eq2, but from what i understand, the role is similar to the role in EQ, MT. i'm sure there are some here that will better fill that in :).

the soloability is LIGHTYEARS ahead of anything FFXI has to offer..

yes there are some quest that will require groups (those wisps in the commonlands.. oi.. very strong to untouchable if you're not a mage) but there's quite a few more quest that can be done solo... and just going out and beating up on mobs..

my priest has taken "group" rating white mobs (even match) before as long as it's one on one.. if it's blue or green even grouped I can typically handle them... and this is a priest. The *HEALER* class is that capable and competent in EQ2..

thing is even if you wait to do a quest until your quest mobs are gray, a quest still isn't a waste of time because you get XP for the quest itself.. as well as a little money and possibly items (which may just sell pretty well)

Pali's are still tanks in EQ2 so the role really doesn't change.. it's the tools needed for that role. I however am a mage player (except Nerris).

Paladins are great tanks in EQ2, although when I party in a full group I prefer to play secondary tank. Crusaders at least (I'm not a paladin yet) have decent abilities to aid the group, from buffing str/sta to giving some of their AC to a group member, to damage prevention (wards) - in addition to being able to hold aggro and live through it.

Awesome. Thanks for the info guys. Just one more question. I've come to terms with the lack of damage my PLD causes in FFXI. Is it the same in EQ2 or can they cause at least SOME damage? I only ask because i'm curious.
