Brokers! AHHH...Follow

#1 Dec 05 2004 at 3:12 PM Rating: Decent
Ok this is killing me, anyone know how the brokers work? I assumed that a broker sells all of the player items for sale. Appearently not. Heres what I did. I was on my character that lives in Big Bend, went down into the ransackers annex and used the broker there for a spell search, found very few spells. I then left that mini-zone, removed myself from that society, and joined the dark barginers in long shadow alley and checked the broker there from spells, not only did I find more spells on that broker, but different types as well only 3 minutes later. So I petitioned a gm and asked what was up, then headed for north freeport to check the broker there who isnt in a society, he again had another different list of spells that was not the same as ethier of the 2 society brokers. I am now offically confused as the North freeport broker is out in the open, and doesnt even belong to a society that I am aware of. A day later the GM sends me a tell asking how he can help, I tell him the deal and he says I have to figure it out on my own. Great =/. Then he said something about a "black market" broker that sells goods from afar? Im guessing a broker that sells qeynos goods is in freeport somewhere, I tried to find one but dont even know what the npc's name would be like so Im not sure I ever did.

Does anyone else know how this works?

Though I'm not sure if this was the problem, It could be. The player market list can consist of multiple pages of items, and many times when you do a search it will randomly select one of those pages. If you were not aware that those particular items you were searching for had multiple pages, then that could of been the problem. Theres also a chance that between moving from broker to broker, new people listed spells for sale, and others sold out.

As far as the blackmarket one, there's a black market broker called a Fence who lists items for sale in Qeynos. His name is Fence <some dark elven name> and he charges a 40% commission. It can come in handy some times, even with the 40% markup. Qeynos, being the popular city it is, alot of times has a much more competitive market :)

Ok public service announcement time:

The Qeynos blackmarket fence is on the Island in East Freeport Harbor. Just jump off the end of the docks and swim out to the island find the stair case and turn right to speak to the fence ( and his rather odd gnome sidekick). This guys sells Qeynos broker items for a 40% mark up. This is a great feature considering how broke the Adept spell drops are around Freeport.

P.S.: But as a summoner I still have only seen 3 Tellurian Recruit Adept I spells for sale at the steep price of 55 silver -1 gold range. =P

Where is Fence? I was thinking (playing both qeynos and freeport on my server) that I could buy tellurian recruit app3's and adept1's from qeynos where they are both less than 10s and sell them in freeport where the hordes and hordes of necromancer players have made those to spells sell for 50s-1gp average. I could sell them for 30s people would think they were getting a deal and I would triple profit.

Good luck with that strategy there are alot of Scholar's and Sages out there right now and the price on App3 Tellurian Recruit is 20sp if you can get them to sell at 30sp that is great but they dont move too fast sometimes.

Take Care,
