Hey! I was just wondering if this game is plausible for a person who does doesn't always have hours and hours to play. Mostly on weekends I have lots of time to play, but during the week due to school work I only have like an hour or 2 to play video games. Is this game a possible option for me? I hear from people you can solo effectivly so that is a bonus. I came from Final Fantasy 11 where solo wasn't a possibility for most classes, and parties were sometimes few and far between.

Thanks for your help :)

(also I know some people suggest world of warcraft to casual gamers, but I don't really like the feel of its story, and think a fantasy game like everquest2 is much more intersting)

well although it is possible to solo, its not nearly as productive as having a group. The big advantage with eq2 is that there are always quests available to you, so if you log on and you dont want to wait to find a group, you can just do quests. They provide xp and money with the occasional armor reward.

There will eventually come a time when you may get bored with quests and you become to high a lvl to solo. Dont get me wrong, soloing is still possible unlike FFXI, it would just take an eternity to lvl up.

Yeah, I think you'd be fine with the casual thing. You will never have a lack of something to do, and yes, you can solo but you just progress slower.

Ok thanks for the information :). I'm glad that in this game you can do stuff without a group, even thought I play on grouping to level as well, it sucked in Final Fantasy 11 when you would log on and spend 4-5 hours playing but because of groups being hard to find, or groups that fell apart fast, you would get nothing done.

Also another question, is the party formations as rigid as games like Final Fantasy 11? Do you need a perfect setup to get something done? Or is it more flexible.

Party formation is pretty flexable you really only need some sort of fighter and some sort of healer. mix in whatever after that.

I find it is much easier to solo here then other games. Yes, you may not get as much xp as grouping, but that is a given. The quests are very nice and many are soloable. There are mobs out there you can solo, esp if you pick a healing class (to keep yourself healed). I find I am much more able to pop on this game for an hour or so here and there, and feel like i have gotten something accomplished. I was never able to really get that feeling in the other game I play.

It's going to depend on what you want out of the game.

If you just want a pleasant diversion from the norm then, yes, the game is casual-friendly. SoE did an outstanding job of giving players multiple ways to play the game (Adventurer or Artisian- or both in fact) and multiple ways to levelup no matter which path they take.

If you expect to be able to 'keep up with the Joneses'- have the best equipment and see all the most exciting places and fight all the most exciting mobs the game has to offer, then you'll probably be dissatisfied in the short run- or at least have delayed gratification because, even though you'll get there eventually, you'll arrive, to one degree or another, slower than others. We've already got players nearing, if not past, 40th level now on many servers and the bar for making money- good money- from crafting has reached high Tier 2 if not Tier 3 materials. And this only a month into the game!

I'd echo the advice about playing a healer-type class. Those are proving to be among the best soloing classes and the quickest to get groups in they choose to raise the LFG flag. You'd make the most of your available gaming time by going that route.

I do a lot of soloing doing quests. I sometimes have to supplement it with sologrinding, but if I can get into a group that's even better. It really comes down to your tolerance for sologrinding. I find I get most of my levels between 25%-50% with solo quests alone. The rest you will either have to group for grind or harder quests. Usually you can also find either single-shot or repeatable "Go kill 10 Mob Xs" to help make the grinding more fun, gives you little bonuses and a reason to not just go to the same grind spot forever.
