"Also note that sitting does NOT replenish your health any faster (this was changed in late beta)."

I thought I would put it on the forum, some people know, some dont, I still see players sitting thinking they'll heal faster.

Also all the info can be found here, the link is available when EQ2 launches but I thought I would put it anyways, we often just want to get started and dont pay attention to the tips.

I have found that most of us that sit do it out of roleplay, habbit or to show the rest of the group that they need to stop.

Not one person I commented about the sitting did not know about it. Have you actually found players that reply with an I didn't know that?

Yes I did, like myself to begin with.
Somtimes I sit just because I am a whm in ffxi, old habit. But yes we were speaking about it in my last party, 2 of us didnt know it didnt work anymore.

I have known that sitting doesn't quicken the healing process, but I still do it to show others that I am still resting or afk(which I say something first in both instances) so they don't just assume I am just standing there for no reason. Even if it is obviuos I am low on power(or health), some poeple don't pay attention to others power pool and will pull, I figure if I am sitting, it give some inclination that I still need a break for a sec. ;) Just trying to be more obvious I guess, and it's a bit of a habit ;)

Sheesh. Sitting was soooo ingrained into our brains from EQ1. Its hard to break the habit.

Now people tease me when I sit, but I just chalk it up to roleplay as was mentioned before.

Whoa, I didn't know that.

How about power? If you sit, does your power regen faster?

Nop it doesnt :/

I found this information useful for the one who doesnt know it's been modified since they say power does replenish faster in the guide I got with the game.

That being said if you knew it already, it's cool, if you do it because it's an habit or because you RP, it's cool too..

Your power and health regen rate seems to be totally based on what regen buffs you have on (obvious) and what kind of food/water you consume (perhaps not so obvious).

The regen rate is far higher (I'd guess up to 4x if not more) if you eat and drink good quality (I think it's called 'refreshing') player-made supplies. Summoned stuff will do, but it's not much better than Starvation (no food/water at all).

So make good friends with a Provisioner.

Well I didn't know so I'm grateful for the information.

It seems counter-intuitive from so many games and not just EQ. But regeneration of both health and power is so fast that it probably didn't make a lot of sense to have differential rates.

Maybe they took it off for players to buy food?

Ah, so THATS why I still don't regen as fast when I eat my summoned food as do other players who are eating player/store bought food.

Gah! Yeah it does say sitting helps you regen faster in the guide, so hahaha, I've been sitting all along! But egads, I could swear that my bars go up faster when I sit than when I stand. All in my head, I guess! Weird!

I was under the impression that this was only the case if you were engaged in combat...

I did not know that sitting didn't speed healing until read post; also, have been making food and selling it to NPC for coin. Duh, I didn't examine it to see how it helped regen. I thank you guys for the posts, it may seem obvious to you but to some of us it is not.

If you really want to know whether there's a difference you can just hold the mouse over your health bar to see exactly how much health and power you're ticking. Some quest food I got (iron ration and icy mug of ale) ticks for almost double the basic bread and water.

Cya.

They took out the "sitting regen" part so that us bakers could sell our sunfish steaks and fudge brownies.

At a higher level, higher level "baked" food should help you regen faster. Not sure on the stats though. SOE has been hush hush on that one.

So don't start looking for Qeynos tea or Liquified Grobb Meat just jet. Instead, sit back and buy some nice food from a broker to support your local EQ economy!

Wow I never knew this, I still sit after every fight just as I did for 3+ years in the orginal Everquest.
#18 Dec 06 2004 at 10:20 AM Rating: Decent
sit doesnt increase your hp/power regen, food does. so go buy food.

I'm guessing that, at least in part, the food/drink thing is yet another way for SoE to make you part with your hard-won coin. Still, anything that keeps players from having 1 million plat (or at least delays it a bit) isn't all bad.

I'm probably going to get this backwards but I >think< that quality of FOOD affects health regen and quality of DRINK affects power regen. Player-made consumables are far, far better than anything (so far) that the merchants sell. Friend of mine set me wup with some creamed Coffee and candied walnuts and they lasted 50 minutes each and the regen was probably 3-4x starvation and at least 3x summoned stuff.

When I'm pulling, I tell my group to sit down to indicate that they're not ready for action. If I see everyone standing, I pull.
#21 Dec 07 2004 at 1:20 AM Rating: Decent
Hmm, that's a good idea! If you pull and they were not ready but they didn't sit, then it's not your fault. Saves having to ask "ready?" each time as well.

But about the original topic, I didn't know this until I read it in another thread a few days ago. I was in beta so I just assumed everything was the same.

The thing on the EQ2 site says it does not replenish your power. It doesn't say anything about health or speed of the recovery.
#23 Dec 07 2004 at 1:26 PM Rating: Decent
Did not know this at all. I wondered why I was the only bonehead that was tradeskilling and sitting after every couple combines. I thought maybe they were all sucky and didn't know how to use power to make it easier on themselves.

On an unrelated note when I am sewing and I hear someone get whacked with an unyielding board failure does anyone else smile to themselves. I picture someone forcing a board into the saw and having it explode out and whack them in the face like the Three Stooges. And the nice groan when the board busts them in the chops for good measure. Always makes me grin anyone else?

I didn't know this until I read this thread!

Oh I had suspected it, it just didn't seem to make a difference when I sat down, but I didn't know for sure.

Thanks for posting!

Also didn't know that higher end food had better effects, I vaguely remember reading something, but I've mostly been eating summoned food. I was already thinking about starting a cooking fiend, I may have to follow up on that now.

I don't think it's wise to rely "solely" on people sitting to indicate their readiness state. Sure, you can try to shift the blame to them because they were standing, but if someone dies, does it really matter who's at fault? I think it's still best to always check the power meters before pulling and ask when in doubt.

I also find it a little bit insulting when people tell me when I can sit or stand for their convenience. Why should I have to worry about sitting or standing all the time if it serves no useful purpose. Look at the power bars, use your best judgement and excersize a little responsiblity. Healers get enough grief when people die. I would be extremely upset if a puller pulled a mob with my power at 0% and then got upset with me because he didn't see me sitting.

Can anyone confirm whether or not sitting increases aggro radius as it did in eq1?
