A question like this is very hard to answer.

It all depends what you like in a game, although there is very little to dislike in EQ II. The lag is the worst part but with a good computer this should be restricted or so I am told as I don't have a good computer for this game.

I've only played SWG for about a week before I quit, so I can't even compare the two unfortunately.

The tradeskilling is a direct lift from SWG with a few bits added.

Combat is similarly derived although the differences are greater. You don't have a multi-action queue like SWG although some actions do appear to be queueable.

The Quest structure is EQ-derived but SWG-influenced as far as the journal etc goes.

The Market system is very like the player market (forgotten the name) in SWG except you have access in your room (in which case you have to leg it to the vendor) or via a broker who charges 20% for instant delivery.

There is no "Tipping" or player-to-player training.

The multiple power bar and Combat Fatigue of SWG are simplified into a single "Power" bar which feeds all activities.

There is no complex career structure. You basically have a choice at 10 and again at 20. No putting points into Pistol or Rifle II etc, etc

I grew very quickly bored of SWG however and EQ2 has a much better feel to it. I would rate it as a far better game. But then the reasons for that might mean it was less engaging for you, "an SWG vet". It may just be I am more fantasy than Sf oriented.

Also, there's no "email" (one thing I really liked about SWG), so no way to talk to someone if they're not online.

As was stated before, no offline selling or harvesting. You must be online to do those things.

Waypoint system is in effect in EQ2, but it works just a bit differently. You can get a WP to a group member that follows them around, but as far as I know, you can't type in /waypoint location to get to a certain spot.

Oh, and no speeders or banthas. Smiley: grin

If you click some area on the map it says "A path has been placed to guide the way" or something. But I never see the line..

okies folks, tnx for the positiv respons.
Me myself enjoyed swg a lot, but i grew bored over time, because i tought that soe ruined the entire game with some drastical changes. They also added way to little content and star wars gear to make the game for a true sw lunatic like myself. But i hope they have learned some valuable lessons for this game, so i guess i just have to buy it and try it out.

Oh 1 more more thing, since i have no experience with eq whatsoever i like to start on a new server without to many experienced players.
Any ideas witch to pick.

Marlion, don't be intimidated by EQ1 players. EQ2 is a totally different animal. So any server you're on will be full of "newbies" learning the game right beside you.
