Enchanters: Illusionist vs CoercerFollow

Anyone have thoughts on differences between the enchanter types?
I'm kicking myself because I just realized upon hitting level 12 that Coercers must start in Freeport and Illusionist in Qeynos unless you want to spend days doing Betrayal quest. I've reviewed the spell lists for each and here are a few observations:

These are by no means all of the differences, but having played a 65 enchanter in EQ1, I tried to note just the major differences between the subclasses which appear most important, however I don't know how they'll actually differ in the game:
(lvl 20, 34, 48): Coer group haste, Ill target haste
(lvl 21, 49): Coer mental buff + absorb some damage, Ill mental buff + spell avoidance
(lvl 23): Coer AOE impair, Ill AOE mez
(lvl 25): Coer AOE mez
(lvl 27, 41): Ill lich type mana regen
(lvl 29): Coer group int buff
(lvl 30): Coer target stun, Ill AOE stun
(lvl 32, 46): Coer group mana tap; Ill pet
(lvl 33): Coer target clarity
(lvl 35): Coer group int buff, Ill target haste buff giving add'l attack
(lvl 37): Coer charm, Ill group int buff and AOE mez
(lvl 38): Coer increase tank agro, Ill group invis
(lvl 39): Coer AOE mez
(lvl 42): Ill AOE nuke
(lvl 44): Coer lich mana regen, Ill AOE stun
(lvl 45): Ill target debuff
(lvl 48): Ill AOE mana tap
(lvl 50): Coer AOE stun, Ill AOE DOT
Also, several of the Coer spells require thoughtstones... are these tough to make?
Anyone tried Charm yet? I hear only lasts 30 seconds, but can do multiple mobs. In any case, doesn't look like coercers will be able to solo with it, which was the best part of them in EQ1.

I never played a chanter up very high in old EQ. So it's hard for me to tell which is "better". At certain levels one seems to have an advantage over the other. Of course a lot depends on whether or not a spell performs as advertizes (or performs too well). An AoE mez stinks for many situations - and is a lifesaver for others. Why they are so limited? Maybe it's to help sell later expansions...?

Which do you think is "better"? I am holding off playing one of these for fear I'll invest in one only to find I've picked the one that totally sucks - it's the other one that groups want. Heheheh.
