Questions for EQ2 players who've played FFXIFollow

#1 Dec 03 2004 at 11:28 PM Rating: Default
I'm considering on going to EQ2 from FFXI, WoW has also caught my attention, but before I make my choice, I'd like to know a few things...

One, is it forced grouping?

Two, will I be sitting on my @$$ for a bit while waiting for a party?

Three, If yes to the above, can I solo while waiting? (This being a BIG factor to me...)

Four, is everyone an elitist *******, or is there room to have fun in a party?

and finally, would the following PC:

ATI Radeon 9600 xt 128 MB
512 MB ram
2.8 GHZ processer

... Play EQ2 with somewhat decent settings? I'm not looking to run very high, just somthing other then the lowest settings. :P

No, there is stuff for groups ( only) and stuff for solo. They are even adding more solo content with the next patch ( many more lvl 15+ quests)

Depends on players. Players have to invite for you to get a party. I rarely have a problem finding a group when I want one.

I always solo while waiting ( at lvl 21)

Yes and No. Its not as rigid as FFXI, but if people get thier act together you can easily double your exp. But so far, pick up parties give decent exp without much hassle. Be careful though, you will need to kick idiots immediately to avoid sharing thier exp. Shared exp is good and bad. Good because if you are a healer and die trying to keep the tank alive, you only get 1/6 ( in a full group) of your solo exp debt. Bad because if an idoit runs through a group of agressive mobs and dies, you have ot pay for it. Its not a big deal as long as you take care of problem players though, usually a few kills and the debt is gone.

ATI Radeon 9600 xt 128 MB

Yes it will run it fine. You may want to think about upgrading to 1 GB of ram, but you will run fine on high performance or balanced settings, which are amazing anyway.
