Noob question (not necessary dumb though)Follow

ok, I'm new to EQ2 and I've been looking for maps for areas such as the down below, the bog, or oakmyst forest. I know these are dungeon areas, but do they have map vendors somewhere that I can purchase maps for these locations? I hate drawing maps and I don't mind if they can just at least provide a map vendor that has fog of war like town map and outdoors map (anatonica).

If there really isn't such maps for selling, would you like to see such maps sold by map merchants in game?

I consider maps as convinence, not exploit. What do you think?

Also I bought a bulletinboard but must I remain in my room and online in order for others to come and purchase? I don't want to stay online nights after nights just so I can sell my stuff to other players. Are there any auction houses for EQ2?

To your first question, I can't really help. I am just as much in the dark about dungeon maps as you(this is my first taste of the EQ world).

As far as bazaaring goes you don't have to be in your house to sell items as far as I know, however you do have to be online to sell them. I don't know if SOE has any plans to change this in the future, but for right now what I do is place my items for sale when I log in first thing and then play for a while.

You do need to remain in your house to sell, I keep inventory of what I want to sell in bags at the bank, when I want to sell, I trade them out for the other bagsI have

Do you mean maps that you can view within the game's interface for these locations?

As for selling, yes you must be logged on and in your home for others to buy from you. They attempted letting people come into your home without you there to buy stuff. But when the sellers made it home all their food was eaten, empty kegs of beer were all over the place, windows were smashed and the pets were all...let's just say they were really scared to let anyone touch them again.

A few bad apples ruin it for everyone. It's the same reason there are no toilets any more. Once one person found out what would happen with a well-aimed fireball and posted the results the developers had no choice but to take them out. I don't know how Freeport is dealing with the absence of toilets but I do know that Surefall Glade was quickly renamed the Peat Bog.

maps:
for the newbie areas, there are no ingame maps that i'm aware of. there are some nice maps on the internet here.
when you get to other zones, antonica, for example, you'll have a map that will fill in as you explore it.

selling:
yes, you must stay in your room, and be online, to keep using the market board. you do not have to have the market board open, and if you have the store running and attempt to close the window, you will be asked if you would like to keep the store running while you are in the room. this was put in place so that, as people we able to procure tradeskilling equipment, and put it in their rooms, they could tradeskill while selling.

also, after setting your prices, make sure you hit the button to start selling, as i've forgotten that before :)

thx for the reply.

Yeah, I understand that the maps for areas such as places in town (North / South Qeynos, Castleview, Harbor...etc) have maps that clears up as you wander around. The outdoors (Antonica) functions in similiar way. I just don't quite understand why don't they let you get map from merchants for dungeons if putting them in automatically is a little too easy for the players side. If everybody can confirm that there are no dungeon maps for sale in-game (I'm not talking about maps that other players drawn, though those are very nice as well), I would like to ask, who would like the dungeon maps to be added to the existing game? (As a purchasable item?)

As for the bulletinboard....I've lost my words. I guess the bulletinboard function as a bazzar rather than an auction house where you can sell your stuff while you're offline. Are there any ways to sell your stuff to ppl when you're offline? I heard there's a middle person thing somewhere? What does it do? I don't think I'll have the time to stay online hours after hours just to wait for a potenial customer but selling a fine piece of armor for crappy price to the merchant's just too sad.

the "Middle" person you're refering to is the broker. he simply has a list of items currently for sale by other players (that are online in thier houses) and instead of you running to that person's house to buy the item HE will get it for you and charge you a 20% comission. It's not a LOT of money but it does add up. I suggest just going to the other player's house and saving yourself some cash.

Brokers can be found in various locations throughout the cities.... I know the ones in freeport but I can't help the goody-two-shoes *wink*

Selling is done the same way that it was in EQLive: Get yourself set up in your home, turn off your monitor if you wish, and go to sleep/work/play or whatever else you feel like doing while your toon is busy selling. Yes you have to stay connected to the game, but no you don't have to be sitting at your PC.

Obviously this is a much better option for those who have broadband as they are connected 24/7 already, but then dial-up is not recommended for this game anyways.

Hope this helps,

so uh, I guess there are no maps for the dungeons on the other hand? Who wants maps for dunegons to be purchasable in game?
#10 Dec 06 2004 at 7:40 PM Rating: Decent
ohhh I dunno about purchasing them... I think they should be just like the other zone maps that are all black to start with and then uncover as you go along.
