I wish they would just get rid of some names on the servers. Already like.. 3 sephiroths, 10 legolas, some Aeriolas, Knockers, Twisted, RAIN! Shouldn't bother me, but you'd think people would have better taste. Oh and "Rain" is a lvl 40 on Befallen.. pfft The number 1 player with a name like rain =p

What's wrong with Rain? Those are the cool names imo, the most common types of words. If it were Raignene of some crap it just wouldn't stick in my mind as well as Rain. Think about it... after grouping with 6 players with names like Ghoest and Armimedion or whatever, how many of those would you remember an hour after the group broke up? But, Rain! Now there's a name you'd recall. My game name is Turdferguson. Hey, that's not a bad idea. The names I can't stand- absolutely wince at, are names like Aragorn, or Tasselhoff, or *gasp* *wheeze* Trinity.. oooooh how I hate Trinity.

Because it's a little lame to run around everywhere and see about 5 people with various spellings of Sephiroth because they are fanboys of FF7 (where's the love for Vincent or Cid, I mean jeeze, they are soooo much cooler :P).

Really, it isn't TOO hard to try and be creative for your character's name, and if you get onto Antonia Bayle or Lucan DLere with one of these kinds of names, some of the hardcore RPers are /petitioning GMs to get you to change your name.

The point is, especially on servers such as Antonia Bayle and Lucan D'Lere is that they are ROLEPLAY. The reason people ply on those are so they can act out a character an immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the game. Names like Pancakes or Waffles (just.. uh... random names) take away from the fun for some people. As for non-rp servers, there is still lore to the game. It is Everquest Lore too. You should strive to match your character to the race you play, even if you are a power gamer who could care less about such things. Stand out by your deeds, not because your name is Deeznudz. I have no problem with Rain, or Treeshaper, or Deathdealer, or things like that. Keier, Sower, Leetdude, Suxxors, and names like that should not be allowed... especially on an RP server.

It only bothers me when I know I'm playing with simpletons:). I mean, is it THAT hard to make a DECENT name. I do enjoy the funny names however, but not when there's 5 of them. On eq1 for instance. One more rogue named Stabbin Daback and I was gonna puke.

i'm kind of glad that these people choose silly names. it lets me know what type of player i'm dealing with, and whether or not to avoid that player.

yes, it's irritating, but it serves a practical purpose. i'd know immediately that i didnt want to group with ussuxxors irooxxors, because it's likely that person isn't really interested in the game at all, but more whether s/he uses more of the measuring tape then someone else... and s/he usually has a one-way magnifying glass for that.
