Harvesting Rudeness?Follow

#52 Dec 10 2004 at 10:15 AM Rating: Default
I just had to add this after reading quite a few of the longer posts here . . .

I bet SoE is doing this not-locking-harvesting right now and soon will make ALL servers PvP with no safety for any players . . .

ROAD RAGE

Definition
There is no national definition for the term "road rage". However, it is commonly defined as a societal condition where motorists lose their temper in reaction to a traffic disturbance. In most cases, the traffic situations encountered are typical of today's normal driving conditions and higher traffic volumes.

"Aggressive driving" refers to an angry motorist attempting to intentionally injure or kill another driver because of a traffic dispute. Aggressive drivers react negatively and uses their vehicles to retaliate by making sudden, threatening maneuvers. This makes "road rage" a serious issue of traffic safety - the safety of yourself and others.

Cause
Experts say aggressive driving behaviors are triggered by a variety of stimuli. Some are provoked by the actions of another driver; others are set off by roadway congestion. But, most are caused by the drivers' own moods and reactions when they get behind the wheel.

Aggressive Driver Profile
Persons who exhibit agressive behaviors cross all age, race, socioeconomic and gender lines. Even persons who are usually "mild-mannered" can blow their top behind the wheel. These persons may only become mad when they're on the road. However, persons who are characteristically cynics, rude, angry or aggressive are prone to get angry more often. Those persons are "raging" at home, at work and on the road.

Huh?? What has this got to do with anything in EQ II, much less this thread.

I could care less if someone intrudes on my node. It matters not if SOE wanted it that way or not. It's going to happen, and it's minor.

And what is it with this rating paranoia? What the heck does it matter if you get a 4 or a 2? The vast majority of posts I see are respectful, thoughtful, and useful. Rating anyone is about 600th on my list of forum activities.

I agree totally with the above post by Faryn (sorry if I botched your name). Someone told me "well, this is Freeport you should expect something like that, it's an RP server"

And yet I really highly doubt the guy who ran up and started glomping on my node was trying to RP in any sense of the word. RP is meant for RP, but manners still apply over something simple like node stealing, or pulling a mob you SEE someone else is getting ready to fight.

If I see someone standing next to a node, because we all know half the time their harvest animation doesn't show up - I go away, because I assume that's what they're doing. There are plenty of nodes, especially in the Tier 2 zones. I figure, hey ...that guy got that one, but there's bound to be another one around here that I can get myself and leave him to his.

HARVEST RAGE

Definition
There is no national definition for the term "harvest rage". However, it is commonly defined as a societal condition where harvesters lose their temper in reaction to a harvesting disturbance. In most cases, the harvesting situations encountered are typical of today's normal harvest conditions and higher harvest volumes.

"Aggressive harvesting" refers to an angry harvester attempting to intentionally injure or kill another harvester because of a harvest dispute. Aggressive harvesters react negatively and use their emotes or harvesting skills to retaliate by making sudden, threatening maneuvers. This makes "harvest rage" a serious issue of harvest safety - the safety of yourself and others.

Cause
Experts say aggressive harvesting behaviors are triggered by a variety of stimuli. Some are provoked by the actions of another harvester; others are set off by harvest congestion. But, most are caused by the harvesters' own moods and reactions when they get behind the keyboard.

LurkerPrime, that is what my post has to do with this thread. I read here that many harversters flip their lid when someone comes and takes from "THEIR" node. They will write down names, bow to never help them, follow them around and make sure they don't have a moments peace, send them hateful tells, etc.

Do you understand my reference now? If these people were really all about common courtesy and being nice, why are they so spiteful and vengeful? Because they're not. They are infuriated that someone stole something from them. They use the "Common Courtesy" defense to justify their anger and their retaliation against someone they feel wronged them. Just let it go and be happy.

To quote myself: Be happy and consider it a treat when you harvest 1 node all to yourself and not bitter and disgruntled when you cannot.

To quote Finding Nemo seagulls: Mine mine mine mine mine mine...

I find that people either care or dont care. Generally if i found someone hacking my node i would politely ask them not to hack mine and i'll stay away from theirs. If they proceed to not give a crap i then proceed to follow and hit every single one of there next nodes. It may be childish but they generally leave. Letting everyone else who is curtious have a fair shot left in zone. It really does suck how much of a cut throat sysytem is in place to get out of tier 1. I really wish sony would reconsider it because it just starts bad blood WAY to early in the game.

To the One and Only Ffreak . . .

Your a blathering idiot. You come around me and try to loot I will sick every damn mob on you I can. Your an assbite for saying poor manners is ok. If I train you I can say, "Well I thought you wanted to 'harvest' mobs, so I brought as many as I could . . ."

That doesn't mean that I am not a ******* for training you.

Wow, someone needs a sedative.

You DO realize that training is ot possible in EQ2 don't you? And even if it was possible, it would be a bannable offense as it was in EQ1.
