Tradeskill Associations QuestionFollow

#1 Dec 01 2004 at 6:02 PM Rating: Good
I've looked up and down the forum, and maybe I missed it somewhere due to my eyes drying out from staring at post after post (hehe) but I'm a level 10 Outfitter interested in trying to join a Tradeskill Association outside of my initial one (ie. Circle of Vivani(sp?) in Temple Street).

At what level can I join the other Trade Guilds around the city? Requirements? Any quest to take care of first? Each one tells me that same 'ol "Cannot Permit Membership, blah blah blah" I'm sure ya'll know what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance for an answer!

Great question.. I was working on trying to find out the exact same thing but for a scholar. I was wondering if any where on my char info I can find what levels my various skills are at?

I am what I believe as level 10 but can't join the scholars guild Minds Eye in graystone yard. I have spoken to the guy on the qeynos docks and have chosen scholar? Any idea what is not allowing me to enter membership wise?

I have ran into the same problem, so if anyone can help out with this it would be much appreciated.

This is what I've gathered so far (since no one's interested in answering ><). 4 Tradeskill Guilds in my starting slums (Temple Street). I'm pretty sure the other slum areas have a similar amount. Only one of the 4 would accept me (yet I'm clueless as to why). It is my belief that it may be Artisan Class specific as to which you go to. The Tradeskill Guild I joined yesterday (they give you a Yes/No option to join...) only offers Outfitter Books 10-19 and Armorer/Weaponsmith/Tailor 20-49 books. So I'm assuming you just have to find the Guild that fits your post level 10 class.

well i had the same problem when i made lvl 10 and chose outfitter. When i tried to join my new society it would not allow me. when looking up on my persona screen i found that i was at 110% of lvl 9. So i went back to my wholesaler society and made a combine it regestered me as a lvl 10 and i was then able to join my outfitter society. Hope that helps.

When you first get to your starting zone, mine is Starcrest commune, you can only join one society, and in starcrest that is Luminary Cache.

This is like the beginner society that everyone joins regardless of which route you are going to take.

After you reach level 10 and have selected which branch you want you then have to join a society for than branch of artisan.

I am studying to be a scholar, and in the starcrest commune scholars can join the counsel of something, I forget.

But for each branch of artisan, ther are 3, outfitter, scholar and Baker, there is a society that you need to join, and can only join that one.

You can only join one of the "basic" (wholesaler) societies, and one of the specific ones after you choose your class at lvl 9. It doesn't have to be in your home town/district, but you can't be in several at a time.

In order to get to lvl 10, you have to register your chosen class (in Qeynos it's in Qeynos Harbor at the docks, dunno about Freeport) and as said above, make sure that you don't have any tradeskill quest open with your first society or you won't ding 10 and be allowed to the new one.

As of now, being in both the wholesaler and the class specific society at the same time is bugged. Sometimes it will forget that you're in one, making you rejoin and lose all current status points you had with them. I'm not sure if it was actually intended that you can be in two at the same time (the basic and the specific one), but I've just given up going back to the wholesaler and sticking specifically to my outfitter's society, since I've racked up a bunch of status with them - one day it might actually be worth something...

Some of this may be a rehash of previous posts but this is what I have worked out so far.
You already know about your initial tradeskill guild you already joined. After you reach level 10 you need to go to the Tradeskill council or whatever its called in your respective town (west freeport or qeynos docks) and decide whether you will be an Outfitter,Craftsman,or Scribe. After you have done this go back to your home zone and check with one of the other 3 guilds. Everyone starts in same guild, after 10 the other 3 are for your specific trade type, Craftsman will have something like 7th Hammer, Scribes will have some cryptic or mystic name (eye of something), and outfitters will have a name that is recognizable as such, just read the names of each of the 4 and you should be able to go directly to your correct guild. Talk to the NPC outside the doorway and he will give you access. As was stated above only limited books are available here. As far as i can tell any other books will be dropped items, unless certain npcs will start selling to you at a higher level or something.

Well thats my two cents, hope it helps.

Unfortunately I found this thread too late hehe.

I levelled to tradeskill 9 on the island of refuge (actually 109% into level). When I came to qeynos I joined the wholesaler's and got a task (as you do, just thought it was another quest). Then I found out to get to level 10 you have to go to the docks etc. My guy is currently bugged* I guess. I can't delete my wholesaler quest task, at my current level I cant fulfill the task either. I guess my only option is to level up and complete the task and hope that resolves the issue. Stuck at tradeskill nine :(

You cant delete crafting quests at all. You must complete it or ask for a new one. Your wholesaler task will be dependant on your level (say they ask for 15 electrum, your still must be around 40 in mining because thats a tier 2 resource) but the Prima guide implies it's your adventuring level it's dependant on (I have NOT seen this to be true however) In any case you need to increase your skill in whatever task you've been given in order to fill the order.

You aren't stuck at lvl 9. You need to go and choose a next step in the main city (In freeport it's the Coalition of tradesfolk) talk to one of the NPCs and sing up for whichever path in tradeskilling you want to do. Once you do that you can continue to craft and level up in the right direction. You'll be able to purchase most of what you need (recipes) in your new tradeskill society (not the wholesaler)

ok I'm done being helpful for the day.... hope thats enough info.

Actually it is true. I was only a lvl 4 artisan when i got my first quest which was for 15 electrum (tier 2).

My harvesting skills were all in their 20's so this was an impossible quest for me, my lvl as a fighter was lvl 12 Crusader however.

Needless to say i have not completed ANY quests for my wholesaler guild as I just now managed to get most of my harvesting skills high enough (only trapping is still below 40).

IMHO this is something that should be changed. I will probably never do a quest for the wholesalers guild because of it. I greatly enjoy crafting and applaud SOE for the system they have developed for EQ2, however I (like I believe most people do) also enjoy adventuring and most people start playing a game for the adventuring first and then move into crafting (most, not all).

Chances are I am not the only one who made a few levels running quests before they decided to tackle crafting and then found that the game seems to expect you to maintain your adventure lvl and your artisan lvl at exactly the same pace.

Please SOE, if you pay attention to this forum, revisit this issue and consider adjusting it.

Well good I'm glad someone has had an expirience with this! I started crafting the same day I started the game (In fact I did it in Beta too as much as I could) so my expirience in both adventure and crafting stayed fairly even. I'm curious however where the cut-off is then. And the fact the wholesaler quests depend on your adventure level is crap. I was under the impression our XP and levels in both crafting and adventuring were going to be 100% independant of one another. It's very misleading and I'm sure a lot more folks are goingt o be ticked off now. *prevents herself from ranting*

Yes I too am very pleased with the game as a whole, but if this is all true and they intend to leave it as such I'm gonna be one P-Oed ogre....
