Has anyone done any work at determining catagorically what different skills and perhaps even more importantly, different skill levels (apprentice 1,2,3; adept 1,2,3) do? It would be nice to know how much I should worry about upgrading my skills and which I should concentrate on at which levels, but I've been unable to find anything on it. Any help is appreciated. If no one has, perhaps we should start a discussion and put what we learn in a forum category/area.

I'm a little confused on the question and I owe that mostly to my lack of sleep and hellah evil migrain here at work, but are you asking what the apprentice levels and such do for you?

You need to upgrade your skills constantly and as often as possible because you will start to lose out on damage. Yes app 3 skills with do ALOT more damage and their buffs/mals will be alot more effective than those at app 1. You can easily test this by actually crafting your own app3 skill/spells and comparing things like damage, ac differences (on armor buff spells/skills), and anything of that sort.

If you are asking something else I cannot help you because I'm still confused :p

P.S. If your skills/spells highlite as grey, green or blue you should consider doing what you can to upgrade them. Also, running isle of refuge on my crafters is hellah easier when you start them with all App3's :p Soling orc cave with a priest was very mentally rewarding :P

I hope they eventually do get better. I upgraded from Apprentice 1 to Adept 1 and found I received +2 extra points to my buffs. So say my Courage was adding 5 AC as App 1, upgrading to Adept 1 only added 2 AC. So what would I have received if I had upgraded to App 2, 3 or 4? No benefit?

Maybe you 'have' to get all spells and they add up? So if I were to scribe App 2, 3 and 4 my Adept 1 Courage would add 10 ac?

The above is an example. I am at work and unable to look at any stats. So those numbers are pure speculation although I do remember feeling robbed that I only gained +2 to one of my buffs.

Tocopherl - That's exactly the type of thing I'm trying to figure out. Some skills will probably not be worth upgrading and eventually will not be worth using. We just have to figure out which ones.

Krazytwin - I guess I need to clarify. If I can afford to upgrade one skill to Adept or two skills to Apprentice III, which will help me more? It probably depends on the skills, but we need to know the benefit associated with using the skills fairly precisely. I know that when I upgraded 'Toughness' the fighter melee buff from AppI to AppII, it went from a white skill to ..... a white skill. Doh. If I could go straight to Adept I might have saved myself that silver.
