Hi all, couple of questions as i enter my first week of playing. I've read through the manual, but i cant seem to find out what the highest level you can get to is. Any ideas?

Also, I am experiencing a lot of lag when i play. Now, i am not sure if it is server lag or my PC. Is there any way to find out? I know everyone i talked to last night was complaining about lag (Lavastorm server). I came from ffxi, and never had a lag problem unless it was the server, or too many people in a zone.

Any help is appreciated!

50 is the highest level thusfar, but SOE is undoubtedly well into the first expansion, and we will see higher levels added.

Lag, hehe. Yeah, this game was really designed to be played on computers and vidcards that don't yet exist. SOE knows how crappy EQ1 looked compared to modern games after being on the market for several years and would love to avoid that on this go-round. It is not the servers, but your computer, unfortunately. Much of the lag can be corrected by adjusting your options. As it is, my game does not look beautiful (yet, RAM upgrade in 3 days...), but it is definitely playable and quite fun. Here is a link to a guide to your display options:

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=tech_support&message.id=3265

That guide alone helped me actually get the game running on my machine.

I'm also on Lavastorm, so look me up or add me as a friend; I'd be of service in any way I can. Name's Vercingetorex. Best of luck to you. ^^

lag: having 1gb of ram is way helpful. i started with 512mb and grabbed another stick last week and it makes a huge difference.

level: soe has plans for 5 years of content, and at least 200 levels.

I followed the link that was posted, and there was some very usefull info there.

Great info on the AGP drivers. However, I tried both the programs listed to verify if my agp card is running as fast as possible and neither told me what I needed to know.

I am running an alienware laptop with a nvidia go5600 video card.

When I went into my adapter properties and clicked on the nvidia tab I saw that my card was an agp type but it said it was in pci mode.

So I followed the advice given and downloaded the latest drivers for my motherboard.

Now when I look at my adapter it says it is running at 8x.

I went into everquest and oh my god did that make a huge difference.

So if you have a nvidia card, verify that it is running in agp mode by right clicking on the desktop, go to the settings tab, click on advanced then click on the nvidia tab.
