So I want to be a tankable, soloable cleric. Don't know what third class, but either one wears heavy armor.
My natural pick seems like a dwarf. High str (for soloing), high sta, and high wis, of course. But quite low agi. I remember my dwarven cleric from EQ1, and I remember that the low agi knocked my AC pretty hard, while the high sta didn't help much at all. It seems that a high AC would be better for a cleric than high health, overall.
What are the offensive benefits of agi? Does it raise the chance to hit? It appears that if I want a higher agi, I'll have to go with a race with low str. Can agi make up for str offensively? Does it depend on the weapon? An assassin is a big damage-dealer, but str is unimportant for him/her; it's all agi. Can I get away with the same for a cleric who wants to fight?
Or is agi relatively unimportant if I'm wearing heavy armor?
It's unfortunate that we can't multi-class in this game. Usually, in a party-based game, one wants to focus his character in one direction entirely, increasing strengths even if it means increasing weaknesses. Other members are supposed to fill in those gaps. But I want to strive for a fighter-cleric type of character. Any suggestions? Would a barb's 18 in wis be a huge pain in higher levels? What about the wood elf's low str/sta? Is the human's 20 in wis high enough?
