How is the cleric as far as fighting goes? I certainly wouldn't expect a spell-less cleric to fare as well as a fighter, but are they okay? Has anyone tried both character types (or have a friend that plays the other)?
How well do they deal damage, and how well do they take it?
Also, how are the "heal when attacked"-type spells? Are they as cool as they sound?
How are buffs? It looks from spell lists that I've seen like clerics don't have crap for good standard-type buffs (increase strength or AC for a long time), but that they have a lot more debuffs than you would expect for clerics. Is that true?
How are people enjoying their clerics overall? How are you faring compared to other classes? I know that you're getting constant requests to party (healers always do), but how is the leveling pace and soloability compared with other classes?

they fair quite well. melee damage output is not that great, but we aren't made for melee...but it helps. since sitting while the group is fighting does no good for power regen, i would expect any cleric that wants to maximize their role to be up and swinging on the MOB with the rest of the group while casting.
the indirect heals are beautiful. keep the maintained spell window up (ALT-M) at all times and you can see when the spell poofs. A well managed laying of these heals on the MT will mean you have plenty of power to keep the group from having any downtime. and if you are soloing, you can almost last forever on a mob that doesnt hit too hard by just casting these on yourself when your health starts to drop.
buffs are plenty great. we can cast enduring breath...and even that one has a swim mod on later versions. we have courage, daring and symbol of transal...these 3 spells are great alone, but then there is redoubt which adds another 100 or so HPs to whoever its cast on. then the battle rez spells we get..omg. once you've mastered the cleric role, people will BEG to have you in their group.
clerics are wonderful..i'm so happy with my decision to go the route of a Templar.
