How long do characters stay recoverable..Follow

#1 Nov 30 2004 at 12:08 PM Rating: Decent
Lets say I cancel my account for 1 or 2 months to take a break (without paying)...if I start to pay to play the game again, will my character still be there?

I know if FFXI there was a 3 month limit.

Not sure of the limit in EQ2 but it's probably a 3 month soft-limit like the other SOE games. Meaning, if you cancel they only garuntee them for three months... generally they don't delete characters at all though.

Most likely they won't get deleted even if it's a very long time. I had quit EQ1 for almost 2 years and when I started again, my toons were all alive and well with all gear & coin still intact.

yeah, they normally have somewhere that there is no guarentee past a certain time; however, I have never known them to actually delete a character after cancellation. I myself also took about a year to a year and a half vacation and came back to just how I left it.

Not sure what the rules are for EQ2 character data preservation,
but back in EQ1 they had a clause in the user agreement that they can only guarantee keeping character data for 3 months.

This does not mean that they will automatically delete the character data after 3 months. They will only do this if they are running out of space on the character database. So in theory, the character data stays there indefinitely until there is a need to purge the database.

I once cancelled my second account in EQ1 and decided to reactivate after 8 months, my character and all his gear was still there. But this was way back in 2001 and servers were probably not as saturated as they are now.
