Coming to Grips with EQ2Follow

I agree with all those before mentioning how new the game is, but I think the key factor is that people haven't yet figured out the best way to use the abilities that they have. I've noticed that it is possible to kite using a ranged attack providing you can run backwards. Will that eventually become a standard tactic? I doubt it, but I'm sure that there are others that will be.

I read most (not all) of this thread, now I never played EQ1, but I played Lineage II (nightmares still haunt me) and FFXI (For around a year, maybe a bit less). And I can say that you are NOT playing this game right if I understand what you are saying. Enchanters have an incredible use in a party. At lvl16 my group of 4 where exping off red (lvl20). Enchanted mezzed the 2 fighter type Gnolls, and tank tank'ed them, I (predator) dealt damage. Using HO tactics, where he would taunt the mob to start, then start an HO chain and pull the first move so I could finish with either Ringing Blow in my Shadowblade (pulling 170+ damage a hit) was awesome and fun, then mix in a healer+enchanter enfeebling HO and another major damage HO, we could tackle the next of the 3 mobs we originally started fighting. I say this game takes alot more skill than FFXI and DEFINATELY Lineage2 ever did in a group situation. Stop thinking cookie cutter, try new things.

Later for a quest me and a friend (both predators) solo'd Blue Group ^^ mobs at lvl17 by bouncing the agro between us by outdamaging each other! Time those Ringing Blow HO's to go off for one guy, let him take a few hits, then trade, again, till the mob is dead. It was awesome! Sure, there were points where we tried to fight a mob that was too tough, and felt sore in the morning because of it. But explore grouping options a little more, there is more than one way of earning EXP in this game.

I really don't have anything to add except to say that I agree with everyone who says they find this game challenging, but in new ways. And that we all need to wait and see what the game will bring 3-6 months from now.

I also played EQ1 for about 4 years. There at the end, I was just logging on because I felt like I should. My main was a cleric, and I think I watched TV more than the computer screen (unless I was with a group who wanted to do something different or tackle something tough, and how often did that happen?) The combat system in EQ2 kind of keeps all us AFK players a little more attached to our computers, and I think that's a good thing. Smiley: grin
