I get lag in Quenos.. Freeport is pretty lag free though..

regardless I'm seriously considering upgrading to 2 GB of ram.

I get lag in both cities, though much more pronounced in Qeynos. Keeping things drab and militaristic in Freeport does have its good side.

I also get a fair amount in Blackburrow as opposed to zones like Wailing caves. Basically, being evil = less lag at this point.

In "Options" turn down your settings a bit (texture/character texture, etc). This will improve performance. I have experimented with several machines and I have found when there are more characters in a specific cityzone there is more lag. I am now running radeon XT500/256DDR RAM with 2gigs of RAM and it runs as smooth as a babys bottom even with 49 ppl in a city zone. Outland zones have less your comp has to render and generally has characters more spaced out so lag is not such a big issue there. Right around 1.5gigs with a good vidcard is where I began to notice NO lag at all in city zones. Hope this helps.

I noticed this too and it is very frusterating. Now I am not a computer genius so I don't know what specs I shouldn't mention so here goes:
Processor speed: 3.2 GHz HT technology (pentium4)
Frontside bus speed (what does that mean?): 800 MHz
Level 2 Cache: 512 KB
Ram: 512 MB PC3200 400MHz DDR
System Ram: 2GB
Hard drive maximum capacity: 200 GB 7200RPM Ultra ATA/100
Video memory: 128 MB (128-bit DDR)
3D Graphics Support : nVidia GeForce FX 5200, 8x AGP 3D graphics hardware acceleration, and some giga pocket thingy..
So, is there something here I should be upgrading? I have all the graphics already set to low.

I've been made aware of a potential memory leak which builds the more you zone... The only way I've been able to clear this issue is to reboot the computer (not just exit the game).. The lag would follow me out into the Commonlands as well (lag was terrible as I moved towards any area with NPC's or PC's in it). The problem is very noticable in cities due to the larger number of characters to render. If you get terrible lag in a city where you hadn't in the past, try exiting and rebooting your PC and then see if the lag is gone / reduced significantly.. (and yes, I've checked all the usual suspects on my PC.. and have already confirmed similar experiences with other people).

I find I am lagging very often when I go into SQeynos. If I have to zone often as well, the lag seems to build up. I find rebooting as well, helps it out. It's a pain, but worthwhile.

I have noticed this as well. The first time I zone into a town, everything is fine. Then the lag and RAM/HDD swapping just gets more intense as I zone more.
I restart the game and the process starts all over again.
