I heard that there was a way to pass items from EQ1 to EQ2- is that true and if so how can I do it?

All you get is a painting and a title like "Jobaber of Innoruuk". No items get transferred, including mana stones and circlet of shadows :(

So what is the painting good for and what do you have to do to get it?

The painting is good for your personal enjoyment; it has no use. You type /claim in game and choose among the items that are presented to you (depends what version you bought) to have on any of your characters.

None of the /claim items have much use, franky. I personally have 2 paintings on the wall of my inn room - they won't help me in any way in the game.

No, but they do add some flair to your room! :P

I really don't see how the heritage thing would work anyhow, I mean with the whole cataclysm going on and such, I imagine a lot of heirlooms were destroyed or are lost somewhere in the shattered lands of Norrath.
