Part 2 "Where FFXI went wrong..."Follow

Yuniko made a great post, "Where FFXI went wrong". I also play Dungeons & Dragons so when I joined EQ1, after it had been out for a year or so, someone was selling a weapon. The price was 50k, 50,000 plat-for those who don't know. Being a newbie I had no idea what he ment so when I asked him about the weapon, he made fun of me for being a newbie and not knowing what 50k ment. I stopped playing EQ1 about a year before EQ2 came out. I got tired of not seeming to have spells, money, equipment, and skills.

So I thought, like Yuniko, I should have tons of platinum, by level 30. But I did not and was VERY confused. So now here comes EQ2. I got it the day it came out. Being married and a father of 2 children I can not play 8 hours a day like some can. I read in Yuniko's post someone said "I am happy with the money and skills I have." I have a level 12 Sorcerer/8 or 9 Artisan and have about 83 copper after getting some of my artisian skill up. I am not asking for artisan skill help, I am just wondering, for someone who can only play about 2 hours a night, maybe 4 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday, what is a normal amout of money and skills for every 10 levels or so? (I do not want EQ2 to be a rehash of EQ1)

Thank you in advance.

I think if you spend a reasonable amount of time questing or selling things you make as an artisan, you should be okay with money. You probably won't be able to buy the best gear as the game progresses, but you should be able to get everything you need to play.

I think with EQ 2 you're going to have to dedicate some time to saving money. If you do nothing but hunt or work on crafting, you're going to run out of money at some point and have to get some more. That is understandable though.

I wouldn't expect EQ 2 to have a huge market like EQ 1 for many years. If you quit EQ 1 about a year ago, you missed about 4 years of the game. It took a while for people to be selling things for 50k. Also don't forget that there are many great weapons available for only a few hundred pp. You don't need 50k to buy good equipment.

If ya want to, take time to go gather your materials for your crafting. This will save you money, and can even make what you craft return a slight profit for you. I'm a lvl 14 outfitter, and haven't had any problems in the money department since i go out for a couple hours and harvest the materials I need.

The reason I quited FFXI because time sink and to finish the quests u need the whole party plus alliance and take a long time to get a party. So I got EQ2,I had fun with party, solo and questing until lvl 20.Now i'm at lvl20 pld, hardly get any party solo is so slow and quests are so hard,u need a party.
Now i'm stucked at 20 can't solo, can't quest. It made me feel like EQ2 is not any better than FFXI then I tried WOW,all i can said about this game is WOW.Finally I found a game that I can enjoy.

I usually have around 1 gold on me at all times, sometimes a bit more, sometimes less. I don't craft. How do I do it? Eh, I'm not sure actually. I solo a lot. Sold all my drops I got. Viola' money. And it's not like I'm gimped either, my stuff is rather nice I'd say. It's not hard to make money in this game. Try selling stuff through a broker during the night while you sleep...all that junk you get from treasure boxes, or stuff you've outgrown.

I started Scholar in game and have now attained lvl16 Scholar.

I bring in on average 1-4 Gold per day in sales of items. I increase my profit margin by farming all the materials myself.

You can go out and gather items for Artisans or for yourself there are always items in high demand especially for the lower level crafting jobs.

Simlpy give a shout or a /ooc to see if any artisans need your help gathering materials for them.

I occasionally sub-contract smaller things out to adventurers that are looking for some extra cash.

Also, QUEST-QUEST-QUEST most quests will give you xp and coin so doing this will progress both angles you are trying cover in your short amount of time.

I have found that finding a buddy to go out and knock out the quests with always makes it nice and a bit easier to progress through them. Also you will have someone to share the experiences with which makes this game so appealing.

Hope this advice helps,
