Lewd and Crude /OOCFollow

#27 Nov 29 2004 at 7:54 AM Rating: Decent
Well, I haven't been very far in zones, but the Antonica zone on the Oggok server isn't bad at all. Rather to the contrary, hardly any ooc talk at all unfortunately.

So far, the bulk of the questions are people looking for places or mobs or groups.

I will never turn the ooc off, I enjoy the occasional conversations too much but often in EQ I it did go too far. Calling people *****, a****oles, ... is not done but then you can always just ignore those players if it really is too much. I would hope though that GM's would come down hard on any players starting to talk about drugs or excessive and illegal sex (rape and the likes).

It's a teen game, this does not belong there nor anywhere if you ask me. (I won't lie, I can tell tales about alcohol and sex too, lol, but never in an online teen game)

On Nektulos its kinda split....in Antonica I got no joy out of ooc because no one really talked on it (yes im one of those annoying people who has a 40 person conversation from across the zone) on the other hand the Commonlands is chuck full of odd little conversations. I however do not support topics that are just to far gone, i.e. rape, drug use (well weed I dont care about, its as rampant as tobacco), etc.

I figure after about 2am anything goes (well i do save the populace from the worst of it...but not the tamer words) unless someone nicely asks me to curb my sailors mouth and doesnt say "Stop being an immature ******* using all the profanity blah,blah,blah....". If my language bothers someone and they dont speak up, well thats all them.

At this point in life if a kid hasnt heard any of the stuff disscussed in game then he/she has grownup in a protective parent bubble. Trust me, go to a school (elementary even) and listen to their conversations...you think ooc is bad, wait till you hear the stuff they talk about at school. I have a 14 yr old & 11 yr old brother and a 7 yr old sister, the stuff they tell me that people at school are talking about sounds like a barroom conversation instead of a bunch of kids. This game will hardly rob them of their innocence....

I have seen people joking about rape many times. I have a good friend who plays EQ who actually was raped. Every time I see someone joking about it I cringe. I can't imagine how it makes her feel. There is nothing funny about it. In response to the person that said kids ruin it for adults, I agree. Although I'm sure he is a kid in my book. Adult starts at 30 and when you guys get to 30 and look at some 20 year olds you will understand.

ok certain things should not be said in /ooc like rape and sex type topics. swearing should be somewhat alright in my opinion. if your arguement is "well there are kids playing this game" i dont know how old you are or when you went to school last but coming from a 23 year old male i learned most of the bad words i know from school. by the time i was in highschool i knew more bad words then i thought existed. so if you think your going to protect your kids from it then you need to homeschool your kids and let them watch only the church channel because that is the only way you will protect them from the horrible swearwords<---insert sarcasm here.

Nope church channel wont do either...they say Hell.

I had the mouth of a sailor when I was 8 (Go 5th graders. They taught me well). School starts it all..then we pass it down to the next younger kids.

"Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.......emmmmm...rum!"

I joke around in OOC on Lucan D'Lere a lot. But my jokes are more like "If I'm an Iksar...and Iksar have no ears....how the heck am I wearing this earring and where is it attatched to??" But as for crude and lewd.. I don't want to log on and hear someone saying how drunk or how stoned they are. I don't care... and I don't think most of the rest of us do either. /ooc is a nice way to maybe make some new friends and have a good laugh now and then, and of course to help one another out with game questions, letting others know you're looking for group and just stuff like that.

It's not a place to cyber or tell us all how you just smoked a big fat one and now you have the munchies.
