I am in Japan so I don't usually play during peak U.S. hours. The game runs just fine rather I'm in a city or not... until around 5pm Tokyo time then progrssively gets worst til the point where... there is no point. I was doing the teir'dal citizen quest along with some others. I was in the sprawl coming back from the Ruins and was literally imprisoned because the the game would come to a stop and in 30 or so seconds the revive option would pop up. Tried again and the game "paused" in the exact same spot... and I died. I had to get other players to escort me... Then I try to make my way through the Thieve's Way to report to all the quest NPC's. Walking through a passage way and a guy is getting beat by 6 darkblades and I start to back up.. only I didn't move. I sat there for like 40 sec trying to move backwards to no avail. Then after a nice slideshow consisting of 4 slides over the course of 40 secs they killed me. Died a second time because they didn't appear in front of me til it was too late. And trying to run is pointless as I just run into walls. I finally had to take off my armor because I would lose it all. I gave up and decide to just camp in Big Bend. So I exit the sewer and the load time took 5 minutes(!!!) and... and... it gave up!! I then heard the character select music and another 2 minutes for that to load up. Another minute for the game to simply exit to desktop.

Is there an option to get ride of all player characters. I don't need to see everyone else. I have come to the conclusion that it is the players that are making the game laggy, not the game itself per say because around 5 pm the only time it lags is when another player or players run by. Then it gets worse and worse as more ppl start coming online. If not, do you think SOE would consider that? Is it even possible. How about instanced zones without 50 snakes and rats bunched together within a 3 foot radius. I'm getting more memory, but that's isn't the point. I currently have P4 2.4Ghz, 512RAM, and 128MB Radeon 9700. I wonder if 1gig can help.

Thank you SOE for putting the comps in the year 599 A.E.(after everquest) ahead of the present day ones. I just needed to get that off my chest.

I know what you mean, and hear you exactly, there are times when I keep Metal Gear Solid running in the background and I will step two feet, then just go play metal gear, then come back and step two feet, just to go to my room to sell things before bed. This really could use some clearing up, and yea, couldn't the 599 A.E. graphics be downloaded when we can run it or something? If anyone knows how to turn of Pcs that would be awesome, or any other tricks anyones found to slow the lag, post it.

Don't feel bad.

I live in Oregon and I get linkdeath almost every 15 mins or so. I have Comcast cable and there is no problem with other online games, just EQ2.

SOE says to talk to Comcast, and Comcast says to talk to SOE.

I think SOE is the problem, and they just don't want to address it.

Have you tried dumbing down your display options? There are a lot of things you can adjust in game to improve performance. First off, I'm hearing a lot of people suggest that we should defrag our systems after installing the game to improve our FPS.

Here is a really good post on how to adjust your settings, and what each adjustment effects. If you make some of these adjustments you should see a significant improvement.

And yes, a gig of video ram helps but it's not essential.

Defraged my harddrive before I installed EQ2 and afterwards.

I have taken every single effect off to the point where it looks worse than EQL. It is just as incredibly laggy. My computer has no problem handling the game itself. It is handling all of the other players that is the problem. I had less lag being in the middle of a 50 man firefight in SWG than I have in this game with sub-EQL graphics walking from one NPC to the next during prime U.S. playtime.

If I was living in the Us right now I'd have taken the game back already. Since I'm in Japan I usually don't have to worry about US peak hours except on the weekend.

Totally agree, I tried everything even thought it was my conenction but magically Neocron SWG and Eve work perfectly on m comp even with more than one account logged at the same time.
Now the question is if it will get better or not?
I couldnt play during the weekend as it was just too bad and today I cant even connect to my server LOL
