Can someone tell me what the icon at the upper left of the crafting window is supposed to tell you? at first I thought the number denoted how many of the item you were making, but when I make Chloro Resin, I get 3-4 vials depending on the quality even though the icon says 2; if I make Elm Lumber, I get a quantity of 1 though again, the icon also says 2. I'm just slightly confused as to if it has any actual significance.

It's the difficulty rating (level) of what you are making.

I don't think thats it, I was just making something that has a rating for me of 5, and it still says 2
It probably still says 2 because you havent upped your skill to 5 yet....see if this is the case.
I've been wondering that myself. I believe it tells you if the finished item will stack or not, but I'm not 100% sure. It definitely doesn't tell you how many you will make or how difficult it is.
how do you up your skill? I'm a level 14 outfitter at the moment, using the example of fossil temper, it's had a 2 there since I started making it before I was level 5. With the case of stacking items I know thats definitely not it either, I'm making Elm Strong boxes right now and that also has a 2 there and those don't stack.
I've pretty well decided the 2 means nothing...some things you make 4 of, some you can only make one..at first I thought it was to denote a stackable item, but I dont think that is the case either....I think it is just there to annoy you.

I tried looking there, but didn't see anything relevant.....let me know if you find anything though
Well, I've looked at the ingame help, other forums, the manual(but seriously, who'd actually read the manual?) I even bought the Prima Eguide and looked in that, but didn't see anything. So, I am at a complete and total loss.
I have noticed this also. You know what though I am progressing like a bat outta hell and that little number 2 up there isn't stopping me. I would like to know what you find out so I will check back from time to time and see if anything comes of it. Also if I finally come to realization I will check it out also.
