I got my App 2 upgrades at the scribe in Castleview hamlet. The little frog behind the counter had them. Check the scribe in your home city I bet thay would have them.

Apprentice II you buy from a local scribe. Save your money though, since you can buy Apprentice III from a PC merchant, through your bulletin board or a broker, for not much more, and the spell is even better.

At higher levels I think you start with Apprentice II, but I'm not sure.

Support the player economy, buy from your neighborhood PC merchant.

No a player merchant . You know? Some one else who is playing. Not a Non Player Charachter Merchant. Like a banker or mender.

Another thing to keep in mind is you can skip past upgrades and go right to better ones. You dont need to progress in a linear fashion. So if you see an app3 spell for sale you can afford, grab it and scribe it even if you dont have app2 yet. You can upgrade all the way to master if you wanted withouth getting other upgrades. But I have yet to see any of those out yet let alone for any of us to afford them lol.

Adept I spells are loot drops. They aren't particularly rare drops but, with so many classes that are spellcasters, the odds of a given spell you need dropping and then you winning the lotto for it are pretty small. As with many things, you're better off checking the Broker for player-sold spells that you need. Trust someone else's luck to have what you're looking for.

The one drawback to Adept spells that I've seen are that you fizzle them a distressingly high percentage of the time- much higher than Apps, no matter if they're APP I, II or III. On the good side, as your skill in that spell-type rises, you do fizzle less, even if still more often than you do Apps.

I did see one Master I spell for same on Najena. I think it was priced at 35gp or so....
