Has anyone seen one of these drop yet or know how to get one?

Is it a Lore item?

If so, then I believe it's like any of the other racial lore items, you just keep killing gnolls until it drops.

I've killed over 500 gnolls in BB and Antonica and still haven't gotten one. The rest of the parts for the quest I got within a couple of hours of getting the quest, but I can't find the spirit whatsoever

Anyone know anything about this?

From what I can tell you just have to keep plugging away at Gnolls till you get it. =( Unfortunately as soon as you get it you are a bona fide Gnoll Master anyways and will most likely move on to something else to kill.

I know of a person that killed 3 gnolls and got it, and a person that has killed 1000 and still doesnt have it.....so take that for what its worth lol

I thought one of these dropped last night. Not super sure but if it did I think this would explain while normal gnoll hunters have not seen it yet.

Was doing my Armor Quest level 1 in which I need to kill Gnoll Elders. Some folks have to kill Gnoll Tormentors either way they spawn the same way.

Go to one of the gnoll tents just outside of BB. Around the tens are usually 3 different groups of gnolls. You need to kill all three (maybe 4 not certain) groups before the first group respawns. If you clear it all out then at the tent a group of Elder/Tormentors will spawn.

I think this dropped off one of them.

The Spirit, along with a couple of other "items" for this quest are actually flags that go right into your quest journal. They aren't physical items that need to be examined.

is it possible that if you already have the item, then examining it would flag the item in your journal complete? has anyone tried this? or is the gnoll quest based differently than the goblin one appears to be?

A few threads over in the eq2players.com forums have suggested that the quests are bugged. The theory is that if you examine all of the dropped items, the remaining autoloot quest items will not drop.

Someone said he tested it by deleting the Mastery quest. He then got all of the required items within 10 minutes of killing Gnolls, waiting for all of the autoloot quest drops before examining any of the actual items.

I can't prove any of that, but it seems like an interesting theory. I'm at the same point in my Orc Mastery quest, so I'll probably try it just to see.

As an update to this, I tried out my own suggestion, and it worked perfectly. I was stuck on the Spirit and the Heart, so I just deleted the quest and restarted it. Five Orc kills later, I had all three "key" items (Spirit, Heart, Brain). At that point it was just a matter of waiting for the dropped items to show up, which was another 30 kills or so.

So based on (very) limited testing, I would say that it seems like the Spirit, Heart, and Brain will stop dropping once you've examined the rest of the items.

Now that I think about it though, my first attempt was all solo. After I deleted the quest and restarted, I got all of the pieces while grouped. Maybe that has something to do with it too?

yar from what i understand, some quest items will only drop when you are grouped, and that may be the case here.

I got my spirit and the other "flag" drops solo, from a single 2-mob blue-con solo encounter.

Doh! I was stuck on needing the gnoll spirit as well, so I deleted the quest.. ran over to gnoll slayer keep and I can't find it again, crap! If I remember right the quest started in the keep, but after talking to everyone there and clicking on all the crates, barrels and other things.. no luck. Did they move it or something, or am I just in the wrong place?

This is for the Gnoll Mastery quest, correct? If so, you need the book (random drop) to activate the quest.
