sharing an apartment/bulletin boardFollow

#1 Nov 25 2004 at 1:24 PM Rating: Decent
<Apologies if this is a repeat post>
Today I found out that you can actually sell from apartments that have you set up as a trustee. I'm not sure if this is common knowledge but was pretty happy as it will save me some rent money.

For the last week I have been transfering items that I want to sell to an ALT and using her as a trader, thus freeing some bank and personal slots on my main.

Today was rent day, and frustrated about giving up another 5s to the Innkeeper I tried heading to my mains room and clicking her bulletin board. Sure enough everything on me was sellable.
I plan to share this apartment with my brother(different account)now, so we can have 1 nice looking apartment and only pay 5s/week vs 15s per week for the 3 toons.

Hope this helps!

I do this with a RL friend also.

Just set whoever you want to have the ability to sell from your appartment/house to trustee (rightclick inn door from outside for options, and type their name in window with lvl of use for your appartment.)

My friend and I have saved 10sp in the time we've been playin (which might not seem like a lot but to us newbs of lvl 13 it is). I know of a few guilds who have done this and it also brings more people into the house for items as often you'll have multiple people selling at the same time during the day/night and it creates a 'one stop' place to purchase crafted items when guildmates compliment each other on gear.

Ackaroth, I was worried that more than 1 person wouldn't be able to sell at once too, but Kinko posted that his apartment is a

. Maybe with multiple bulletin boards this can be done??

Any suggestions Kinkostud?

Thanks

When I started to play about a week ago. (I say a week because I have to pay my renting fee in 7hours) I was like, god 5s is alot of for a little cheap as room, right? Well after just one week of playing, I'm almost up to my first 1g (96s currently) so I think bah, 5s is nothing to really worry about.

And it's not like you have that much money anyway. Sure I could buy my Enchanter App. III spell for like 20s of what people sell that for but I just think that's a ridiculous price for such a lowbie spell, so I will wait for a good Adept I spell instead.

Just start by clearing out all the quests of the city you are in from inside, then move on to the outside. So for new players, you might get more knowledge about the game from within and be ready to go out and party.

Although I hope someday I will find someone to share a house with, hopefully a guild mate, and also a girl. ^_^

I am currently sharing an inn room with 2 friends. We've got it maxed with stuff, doesn't take long to fill them up with 2 adventures and 1 tradeskiller.

We share the sales board buy loading everything for sale on an extra account. Call us addicts but 1 friend is paying for 3 accts.

2 tradeskiller accounts - She can make anything she needs with her 8 alts so she doesn't have to rely on others.

Her husband and I will go harvest what she needs as far as supplies. I've had all my App3 spells before I dinged a new level and he has all his skills this way.

Back on topic, sorry for the ramble...

It's my understanding the larger "inn rooms" in Qeynos & Freeport proper will handle more then one sales board and more "stuff". Were saving money and guild status to get one. So we'll test this. Will post back in a week or so after we've moved into the new digs. Unless someone knows for sure, Gold and Silver plus Guild status is `spensive!

Damn I wish I could do that. But in time I hope to find good players I can trust and do this like you.

Ya it comes with time.. I've been playing with this couple for ever in EQ1. We all came from a Time+ enabled guild in EQLive.

You can't have more than one person selling at a time in the starter rooms that you get after arriving in your city, even if you have 2 bulletin boards.
From what I hear, you can have one seller per room of the house selling at a time. So if you go to North Qeynos or South Qeynos, and rent one of the appartments there that have 2 rooms, you and a friend should be able to both sell at the same time.
So I hear. Haven't confirmed this yet, but a friend of mine and I are planning on trying soon.

Actually, you can have 2 people selling from your starter apartment simultaneously, but no more than that. We have about 5 people moved into one apartment, but only 2 can sell at once.

I am looking for information if anyone knows, what the limits are for the bigger houses.

In responce to the question if my friend and I can share at the same time, yes it seems to work for us. I don't know why others are saying they are having problems but we haven't had any issues. Checked it out with another friend and they found both of us selling items at the same time.

Mind explaining how you do it?
My friend comes to my room, and tries to set up shop while Im selling. She gets a message saying that the room has already reached its seller capacity
(that seller being me) and is unable to sell.
She also has trustee status, so that isn't it.

Well i dont know if you have more than 1 bulletin board or not, but we have 2 i think in there, all i do is set up shop like normal, and start selling. I dont think you need more than 1 bulletin board though. Same for the owner of the house. Everyones at Trustee level, and we are rotating sellers at the moment, but only 2 at at time in the one bedroom apartment.

He's a stupid question...

Can you pay your rent ahead of time?

I could not find where to pay my rent. With the starter apartment, I had 1 day left and owed like 5s. I tried to pay it ahead of time, but could not find a pay option.

Then I just didn't get back there in time after and I think I may have lost the place. Can you not pay for the place until it is due? That is a real pain, I would like to pay for like 4 cycles up front so I can just not worry about it.

only one person can use each bulletin board, from what i've heard, and the intent was that there would only be one seller per room. i havent tried to put 2 in there.

all of my alts are trustees and have let their leases go, and trundled their belongings to runy's place, and buy her items (tradeskill books, etc) and give her drops to sell to offset the cost she has to pay for the room.

the rent due bit:
at this time there is no way to prepay.

when the rent is due, you simply pay it the next time you want access, and no one on any of your access lists can pay it for you, or enter until it's paid. my fighter got hissy with runy the other day cuz she hadnt paid it and he wanted to put his furniture down :x.

i've not found where there is a time limit for access before belongings are removed, nor do i think that one exists. wouldnt be practical on soe's part to have one.
