I am a lv 14 Brawler working towards Monkdom and the vision I have for this toon is that of a hand-to-hand, fist fighter. I don't use a helmet or gloves as I am Kerra and think that cat claws and whiskers should be left out in the open air!.

Problem is that weapons and armor, particularly quest items, have stat bonuses that I will lose by playing him out as I had envisioned.

Will there be any items that will raise H2H fister stats, or am I out of luck?

I'm a L23 Bruiser. At L20 you can start doing a series of quests that gave class-specific armor. I'm not sure about the monk, but my gloves have no visable graphic. The EQ devs have taken your style of play into account.

As far as helm.. just use /showhood. It'll disable the helm graphic. That way you can have the AC and Stats and still keep up with a personal theme.

You can wear a helmet for the AC and stat bonuses and do /showhood. This will toggle whether or not you want your helmet displayed.

Edit: Oops. Someone beat me to it.

Hmmm....you take a risk in excluding the equipment. Use the preveiously mentioned method to hide the helmet, as for the gloves its up to you but IMO you should wear some gloves, but its all you.

Good luck.

Excellent information! Thank you all.... A question, though. Are you certain weapons help? I have been trying to test this myself but have not found a good spot. I think I may test against scarecrows outside Qeynos NG as I can solo them and the mites no longer aggro at lv. 15.

Thoughts?

Sup Dude, My experience on this is that fists do more damage, but are slower. I don't know the exact delay and dmg, but they are my weapon of choice in a group (level 17 Brawler). When I'm soloing, I use my 2h Oakmyst staff. Fists are definately better than a faster weapon or pair of weapons especially when a mob has a damage shield on.

Ok hope that helps...

Well some knuckles does piercing damage and others crushing damage. Haven't seen slashing yet, but I would not be suprised they exist.

The quest by Xxort in Baubbleshire give a good knuckle for starter.

As for myself (Lv.13 Brawler) I use dual knuckle, one is piercing and one is crushing. I might use stick rods later on. I like to stay monk style so I don't think I will use any 2H Staff. Can't wait to bust out the shurikens later on.

I feel the don't want to wear a helmet thing, totally. I always do /showhood.

Do you guys know what an Iksar looks like in a cap or a helm?

Can we say "E.T. phone home?" uhm. That was pointless and stupid, but I thought I'd share my 2cents worth there.

I quested 2 weapons that have worked well for me so far in Antonica: Coldwind Coast Katar from Building Fawns Garden Quest and CedarStike Rod from Oh Deer Me! quest. Both were easy to obtain. I haven't found decent H2H weapons with stats yet, other then the ones from merchants which don't have + stats. Got a good 2hander from quest also but can not use until lv16 and have a half level to get there. Looking forward to quest armor at 20.
