EQ2 RangersFollow

How are they? They always seemed the whipping boy of the EQ1 hybrids. No plate, lousy heals, couldn't tank. Soloing was tough, couldn't kite, took forever to get fletching and archery up to the point where they were respectable. (Gamewise, not characterwise.)

How are they in EQ2?

Everyone, including priests can solo in EQ2. Kiting was taken out of the game.

Ranger is a level 20 class selection and there aren't that many people past that level yet. Give it a few months and then ask this question again. From my own experience as a scout (a ranger precursor class) I would say I am extremely happy with the damage output and abilities so far.

I'm one of the few who actually LIKED my ranger in EQ1. I enjoyed the challange and I found it easy to solo, kite and level quickly by myself..... but I'm very determined to do the impossible when I'm faced with the issues =D

As for scouts in EQ2... love em! Great skills, lots of fun!

I really must object to this message. Rangers are certainly not the whipping boys of EQ1. Rangers have actually the best DPS once all of the Archery AA's have been earned. They are also the easiest class to play in all of EQ1. All of the complaints that you list are absolutel stupid, to be honest. There are plenty of healing classes in the game if you want better healing; as there is tanking classes. What Ranger wants to worry about healing and tanking when he or she can deal out 1000's of points of damage from a distance. Not to mention, and epic 1.0 Swiftwind with 40% haste. If you were having trouble playing a Ranger in EQ1, than I wouldn't suggest EQ2 at all.

The reson Rangers are wipping boys still comes from the original EQ1 when at high levels they sucked.
But thanks to AAs that is taken care of. I am still playing EQ1 and have no prob soloing, or even tanking if need be. I have found I can hold agro better than most Warriors. It's about learning your class.
I am starting a Scout and hope to have info on the Ranger soon.

Rangers are the butt of EQ1 jokes but we know better.
