Ditching groups to avoid exp debt....SUCKSFollow

Alright!! I got a new fresh hot party failure to tell.

I was in a O.K. good party at the Forbidden Isle, actually doing a quest. The exp was average good so we stayed there for a while, until 2 of our members had to leave. Alright sure no big deal, I was leader again, like I'm always mostly, so I shouted for 2 new members to join.

Invited 2 guys, they looked alright, so tell them to come and join us. Since we were still 4 of us together, I was like, well we can still kill some skellies easily. Sure thing, we killed some while we wait for the 2 new "friends".

To my suprise (well not really because at this point, I'm always waiting for something to go wrong) I saw the 2 new guys HP drop like crazy in a second. So here I'm thinking... oh well... I don't even give a **** anymore. But now the fact is, those 2 new fellas ran into the 4 of us still fighting skellies with like... over 20 beetles (krinit or something like that) after them.

Everyone died.

A new story fresh from RunnyEye.
Delivered to you by your humble servant.
Dniem, the noob magnet.

Edit: I mean, if you know there is no way for you to get away alive. Don't rush into your new party and make everyone dead. Die with dignity at least. As for myself, I decided to never invite someone from afar again. I will tell them to get to us, and then I will invite them.

My two silver-pieces here... I have always been primary a solo player. My hours are odd and it's next to impossible to have a regular bunch to group with since groups tend to level beyond me during my lulls. However when I do group I am loyal to that group. At least always have been thru EQ. In EQ II I have had to modify my habits. I am loyal and wont ditch my group as long as the play intelligently. Twice now I have found myself in groups that included a tank that insisted on pulling non-stop even after more than half the group was red. This inconsideration of others resultsed in massive debt when 90% of the group is killed three times. There is such a thing as enough is enough and I drop the group. However I have also built up nearly 80% debt with groups that played smart but we were in a bit over our heads or had a bad fluke of spawns right in our midst. With those groups I stayed and fought it out loyally even at huge debt cost. It all depends on the attitude of the group. If they play with group well being in mind, they get loyalty to the end. If they have self-centered members that have no group consideration, they get a reserved approach.

I once got disbanded within seconds of a zone invite for taking a short fall damage from a griffen tower so I can get to the party faster. After amusingly telling them it was just a safefall damage I was invited back in.
What happened afterwards wasn't too funny.
First party engangement the highest lvl caster does an AOE in the middle of non-hostile mobs and therefore the party starts to get wiped. I advised the group to not use AOE please and immediately the caster disgroups. He was the only other caster in group and saved himself debt, coward.

Because of this post (I think) I have seen myself grow from caring about exp debt. Actually, it allows me to make enjoy more the game slowly and make more money in the process. And it's just great that you don't regress of exp, instead it just harder to go up. I think it's the newest and best death effect in all the MMO I played.

And about your fall, the leader was a noob, because you can't kick a player that is being attacked anyway.

Here is an interesting thought. How did the design team for EQ2 come up with the idea that it would be good to have someone that dies a mile away from the main group give group debt. Does it not seem logical that the person and group have to be within a certain distance, likely the same distance concentration buffs have or perhaps in range for the group to actually be able to assist said person, for group debt to be incurred?

Yes, that's an interesting thought. They would have to estimate a good distance to do so. They could call it "Out of range of group assistance" or something like that.

Once again, I was grouping and someone has to leave for the town, they were going to camp shortly after. The guy didn't leave the group and left the group, died on the way to the town.

To me from now on, you say you have to leave, say "Bye" to all, leave yourself or I will simply kick after he starts to run away. I think people always have this feeling of incomfort when they have to leave a group, even if they told everybody to do so. ( I know I do ) And it has to stop :)

Ditching.

Im a 17 War with good gear and 4 year exp of EQ1 Tanking.

There have been times when I have left a group.

For example, when I was waiting outside BB for the group to meet up. The chanter of the group decided to pull the named Orange^^ Gnoll. He was dead in one hit and the group scattered. There was no way I was going to stay with someone so suicidal, so I made my excuses and left the group.

In other times I have stayed when I really shouldnt have. Last night I was with a group in Vermin's Snee and we were grouping up to take down the Fanatic who is White^^ GROUP to me. The group leader was a 16 War with bad gear who insisted that HE pulled before we were ready, that we attacked the mobs other than the named first, that he was MT and that I should taunt back and forth for him. If this wasnt bad enough he also agro'd the mobs 3 times before we were ready. "Just hit them", he said. 3 wipes later I suggested letting me tank the lot, to which he argued over me in Group Tell. So I sent tells to all the other group members and asked them to do it my way.

Soldiers stance, I pulled, I agro'd, I AOE taunted, Call to arms (buff and taunt), Rallying cry (buff and taunt), then one HO and Hunker down.

The healers just healed me and I held the agro.

Result? We won easy. And what did the 16 War say "See I told you it would work my way Yagyu!"

Git.

Anyway, the mobs after this were a lot lighter, but still he was tanking away, pulling Grey^^ GROUP mobs (for a quest he was on he said) and not waiting for the Cleric to get mana. After about 30 more mins of this and the XP debt was worked off, I left. I should have left after the first wipe, but apart from the lunatic leading us, we had a solid group, and its not like any groups are common down there.

Yagyu.

I think we really should stick this topic. Because it will always come back on and on and stack on each others good and bad experiences in game.

Also, taking knowledge of other situations, might help the people who needs help to understand maybe some points they never saw of another way.
