Wow crafting is fun.

I never really enjoyed crafting in other mmo’s. I would only fish in other games. The large money sinks in crafting and the little rewards were far not worth my time imo.

The crafting system in this game is completely amazing. If I didn’t make it clear before I never liked crafting! But I love crafting in this game. All ready with such little time invested I can make a large list of things that I and others will actually use.

Last night I filled all my bags from gathering and starting crafting. There are so many choices of thing's you can make. Anything you gather you can find a way to use it somehow. I quickly leveled to 6 before I had to call it a night. What’s also great is I already made my own Apprentice III spells for my self and a few for the bazaar.

All I can think about is going home to craft. Tonight my goal is to make a bed and perhaps a book self or something neat for my place.

The only problem I have is inventory room. My Bank is maxed out with items. Is there anyway that you can store items in your house? If so what’s the storage unit called? I can see me crafting those until I can’t move in my house.

I'm just learning about crafting, too. Do you know where to find electrum clusters?

Electrum clusters can be found in rocks throughout Antonica. Level 40 in mining is all that's required.

Toxicmoon: Did you create strong boxes for your bank? So far, I've only made one, but just think how much more space you'd get if you filled all bank slots with strong boxes! ^^

And as for beds, might I recommend you make something better than a generic bed, if you have the skill. Generic beds seem a bit too... small. :/

You can currently have chests in your house, but as for storage, I've heard you can't store anything in your house... yet.

To hold more in your bank make "Elm Strongbox"es. They have 8 slots if you can make a pristine one. Other types of wood strongboxes will be available as you level in artisan. I have heard rumors that the top ones will have 30+ slots per box.

Electrum is found by mining in Antonica (and I'd guess commonlands for evil). You need mining of over 40 to mine out there.

Happy Crafing!! :) :) :)

Heck ya Crafting is awesome. I started a post earlier about how cool crafting is. It's great lots of people like it. But I'm even more thrilled that I know people that will never touch crafting leaving more room for those of us that do.

That is on my list of things I want to create when I get home. Defiantly a good suggestion =). Was just hoping I could store things in the house. If I could I’d spend an entire day gathering and be in good shape for a while.

Speaking of gathering and all. I was wondering where everyone has leveled their mining and foresting skills. I’ve been working over the Forest Ruins. Can anyone recommend a zone that has more foresting and mining nodes?

Forest Ruins has a nice supply of gathering nodes, but fewer mining nodes and rare to none foresting nodes.

On a good note gathering skill is now up to par, mining Is about 9 levels away, foresting…..heh think my current lvl is in the low 20’s.

I'm a level 8 crafter and havn't left IoR yet for various reasons, namely I'm waiting on my new CPU so I can set up my new system with some hyped up RAM. Anyhow I got a recipe for an Alder Strongbox which takes teir II wood resources (wood of course) which can be harvested in the commonlands and antonicia. So if your already out their I'd suggest making those instead of the Elm, because the Alder has a base of 10 slots, so a pristine one I'm going to guess has 12 to 16. This is only an educated guess based on the fact that a pristin Elm box has 8 instead of 6. Thanks to Higynx for the pristine info on the Elm box.

From what I understand I must have a level 40 skill in foresting to allow me to forest there. I look forward to a bigger area in which to locate nodes. The problem however is leveling my skill high enough to go there.

For Antonicia I believe the break down is this

Foresting, Trapping and mining need to be 40.
Gathering needs to be 46 or 47

Wish I knew to stay on the island =(

Never leave the island until you have exhausted all those readily available harvest nodes... Even fishing was a pain to raise in tier-1 zones in the real world.

Personally, I hate the crafting system.

However, the more I read about how others actually enjoy the system but, more importantly, WHY they do, I think I'm beginning to see a pattern emerge.

What I'm noticing is that >IF< people stayed on IoR and maxxed their crafting skills and level, then they by and large seem to enjoy crafting in Qeynos and Freeport more simply because they are able to access far more recipes and actually make some stuff that might turn them a modest profit.

in my case, I thought to max my adventurer's level and let crafting take a backseat- I figured it'd be a piece of cake to skillup in the regular hunting grounds. The last time I was so wrong was when I was at the SciFi convention where they rolled out Magic: The Gathering and I didn't think it'd be popular.

If situations permit me to create an alt on Najena (always a FULL server thus far), you can bet that I won't leave IoR until I've totally exhausted all crafting opportunity.

Now you might think that I'm being a bit petty blaming SoE for a mistake that I ultimately made. A fair point to an extent I'll grant. But please remember that there was absolutely zero documentation that said skillups would be more difficult on Antonica as they are on IoG. In fact, I can recall no decent documentation of crafting whatsoever until this past week or so. I can't be the only one that missed the Artisian Boat due to skimpy information and for that I can blame SoE.

I suppose. I didn't stay on the IoR and I love crafting. The way to higher levels are with in your crafting sets. You have to literally do every type of crafting to raise it up quickly. But, it's hella fun to do. I think I'm going to let adventuring take a back seat and become an Armorsmith.

I am a 9 crafter, and didnt do the IoR method. I just picked up what i could while running around qeynos at low lvls, saved it in bank, and that helped ALOT. now i make furniture and storage boxes, so far highest made is a 7 storage, so dont let people fool you into thinking its easy to make pristine. anyway, stuff sells for good, altho merchent system is rough... realistic somewhat, but rough...

anyway, agreed, i enjoy the hell out of it, only wish i could raise mining easier on mainland, seems like a bioch to find nodes...

I know you all have been crating but I am new and made the mistake of leaving the IoR too soon and I cant find any crafting places in freeport i was wondering if you all can hook a noob up with some locations for crafting spots and those books you need for crafting. Oh and I am going for scholar.

gotta join a society buddy. im sure you see them around. and then you can buy basic books from merchent within. otherwise, other books are mainly from mob drops...
#17 Nov 23 2004 at 5:37 AM Rating: Decent
thanks for the info....does anyone know a good scholar society
#18 Nov 23 2004 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
You should have a note from the crafter guy on IoR. It will list all the sites you can go to. Or click on the eq2 cube and look at societies. I suggest you pick one with the highest number of members. More people around to get help/advice from and a better chance to swap out raw materials with.

Just to warn you about the alder strong box. Alder is not a Tier II resource. It is a very rare tier 1 resource. You can get it from harvesting nodes in the newbie areas in the city but good luck. You will have much better luck makeing the elm ones for not. Currently I only have 2 I have made. I am waiting to get the recipe for the Maple Strong Boxes. Those are the actuall Tier II boxes.

I had great luck in leveling up ALL my skills while in Oakmyst. Lots of foresting, mining, gathering, collecting, trapping. Just clear all the fish out (and keep clearing them out when they respawn) and go at it. Last night I finally got my trapping up to 40 woohooo Antonica here I come!!! I found it MOST beneficial to stay in the zone until everyone logs off for the night, no competition. Last night it was me and one other player with the whole zone to ourselves. She helped me get trapping skill up and I helped her get foresting skill up. We must have cleared the zone a gazillion times but both of us were eventually successful not to mention all the stuff gathered for tradeskilling =) Good Luck!!

Once I got down to only one or two skills to raise, I found getting an empty zone to be a hindrance rather than a help. You have to clear all the gardens out yourself. If you get a zone with a few other people harvesting, one of them might clear out the stuff you don't want to touch.

Trust me, I spent like 2 hours as the only person in a zone instance. I was happy when it first happened, but it turned out to be the slowest skills I got the whole time I was working on them.
