Disabling Combat XPFollow

#1 Nov 22 2004 at 12:46 PM Rating: Good
I thought I'd post this for those that don't know and might want to.

Combat XP can be disabled by right clicking on the xp bar and selecting (drum roll please)disable combat xp.

Note: This does not disable quest xp, only xp gained from killing things.

Reasons you might want to disable xp:

1) Quests that you can no longer access if you level to high, example: Betrayal Quest

2) You want to be able to get chests from mobs before they turn grey and no longer drop them, example: The Sand Shard quest on IoR.

3) You want to let some friends catch up to you, but you still want to kill things for loot and titles.

4) You're masecistic(I do not know how to spell) and want to level only through quests. (Admirable, but insane)

Reasons submited by others:

5) You want to max weapon skills. (courtesy of Prometeus Vaer)

6) Farming for tradeskills and wholesaler quests where you don't want your adventuring level to go higher than your artisan level. (courtesy of Baron von Devilwind)

Anyhow if anyone has any other reasons feel free (as if I could stop you) to post.

Thanks to those who added some reasons. I should further note that you cannot disable Artisan xp.

Another reason:

Your working on tradeskilling at the moment and want to farm bear/doe pelts - which would require you to kill them.

What I've noticed is that the wholesaler quests seem to be based on the higher of your class level or your artisian level.

If you don't want to outlevel your artisian class for this very reason it would be beneficial to turn off combat XP.

Bump

And Tocopheryl, I don't think you'd want to stay at the same level if she keeps killing you. Unless you got a good reason for that.

Has anyone experimented with this? I'm wondering if you disable combat xp, does that increase the xp for other members of your group? If so, this would be a way to help your poor little buddy you outlevelled catch up with you even faster ;).

Main reason why is so all xp goes towards your dept. k thx

Is this true? If you disable combat xp, xp still gets put into xp debt? Someone please verify and I will of course add it to the other things in the list.

I disabled my combat exp on the Isle to farm all the doe hides and silk boots i could carry =) After i got 5 stacks of hides and about 20 silk boots (kept one sold the rest for a silver a pair) i turned combat exp back on finished the isle and had a very nice crafting and silver nest egg in freeport when i got there.

The debt question is really valid though only if your not planing to log for the night after a couple of group party wipes. Cause debt goes down while your loged anyway. You might as well call it a night if your having a bad one 'cause in my experience once it starts going bad it only gets worse.

Pretty much a required feature with any kind of trivial loot code.
