Quiet on EQ2 & too many auctions in wrong channelFollow

It seems to me like there's much less conversation, at least within groups, in EQ2.

And sometimes it's hard to get an answer to a question in ooc.

Of course there's the fact that everyone's using /ooc and /shout to buy/sell/trade. There's two diffferent auction channels. /auction and the serverwide channel. I hope there's no limit to the /ignore list.

Not to mention most people probably haven't changed their chat windows, so they still have the single one from when they first start playing. So when they are in combat, any form of chat just scrolls away quickly before they notice...

I noticed this as well.....Tooo....Quiet....
This morning before worked me and a couple guildies picked up a couple random people to finish a quest with. Even while waiting for the spawn it was as if one of the people we got just ignored my questions and comments.......

Yeah, people are severly uninformed about the varying UI options like window transparencies, multiple windows, customizing chat output, etc.

Have two irl friends that are above L10 and they didn't know that you could have more than one hotkey bar at a time.

At any rate, I have a window specifically for NPC direct tells (the purple text) and combat messages, one for server-wide chat (tradeskill), and the original only has say, guild, ooc, and tells.

As far as the auction channel...I've only seen it used once. Ever.

I say give it time. While this game drew a lot of MMOG vets, there are tons of people who are new to this genre. In a couple of months, we'll all be pros at this game.

just seeing if I could say that without giggling. I'll still be lost 6 months from now.

My regular group from EQ set up a Teamspeak server for EQ2. It seems more chatty to me than ever =D

My guild uses Ventrillo...well, my guild is supposed to use Ventrillo. But more often than not I'm alone or with 2-3 other people there. That sucks. And our guild chat is silent as hell. I'm beginning to wonder if I fit in with these people.

I've noticed people using the auction channel more and more on LD. Still, there're way too many conversations going on in /shout for my liking. I just turn /shout and /ooc off most of the time, if it gets too irritating.

Been thinking of adding another hotkey bar, what with all the abilities popping up.

Yeah..I did that for a few hours, until I realised I was missing tons of stuff. Now I run 3 chat windows.

I understand that completely. I have one for combat/spells, one for heroic opportunites, one for tells/guildchat/group, and one for the rest of it.. Finally have it set up to the point that I can use it all and read it all as it goes.

Honestly I think the EQ2 UI is a lot more simplistic to modify than the EQ1 interface, but...
