Processor to Video Card QuestionFollow

#1 Nov 21 2004 at 12:45 AM Rating: Decent
I have a 2.2 GHZ Intel Celeron Processor, and I know it can only handle certain types of Video cards. My question is, how the hell do you know which ones will work? I currently have a Gforce MX 440, which was fine for FFXI and EQ1, but not cut out for EQ2. I was wondering is it only PCI graphics cards that will work on my intel celeron, or can I run AGP Gforce cards as well?

No I won't be upgrading my processor till Christmas, sorry, so please don't post I need to shell out 150 more bucks for a Pentium 4 :P haha. Christmas time though I will have a Pentium 4, and whatever video card it is I can get for 150 bucks or less on Wednesday.

Also I'll point out I have crappy 56K Dial up, and about 700 some MB of memory. Lol, and yes, Christmas I get Cable or Broadband, so that issue will be resolved at some point as well.

Thanks to everyone who posts :)

You have to find out what video expansion slot your motherboard supports (ie. AGP or PCI)

You can look in your manual, physically look inside the computer, or go to the company website, they usually have online manuals.

PCI slots are the longer ones, AGP is quite a bit shorter, and usually off by itself toward the middle of the motherboard along the back edge.

Without knowing what kind of computer you have, and model number, it is hard for me to guess, but most likely you do have an AGP slot, as they are pretty standard on just about everything after the pentium 3 series.
