Just got my eq2 account up and running and started a iskar warrior which is aspiring to be a monk. After two days of playing i am still scooting around with little and no gear and drops of gear and cash seem to be few and far between so i thought i would start a thead for anyone who can give advise for nOObs to make cash for their 1st set of gear etc, so if u got any suggestions plz post here.

I'm as new as anyone, but what I've been finding to work well is hunting things that drop sellable equipment. Find something that you can slaughter, that drops normal items like fur, but has good drops when it spawns a chest. The money isn't great, but it's been enough for me to buy all my equipment.

I have a dark elf mage, and leveled from 6-11 solely on quests (and killing monsters required for quests) and am still questing. In the process I've made around 30 silver and some change. So do some quests.

Make sure to check what each item you get from a drop is worth. Don't be careless as I was and just sell to vender. Buy your self a Bulletin board as soon as possible. I was aw with the game and didn’t do my home work. As a result I wasn’t up to par with my spells or gear. I have 7 bags of drops I earned the last two days. By chance if everything sells I’ll be caught up at last from that major mistake.

I didn’t think the economy was established enough to make money there, but I was wrong. Luckily I have a friend that shares this burden that works on repeatable quests with my all night.

Just don't do what I did!

Don't buy your first set of armor, get it for free through quests. I am level 17 and still getting my best armor and weapons via quest. Most recently I got my Willow Wood Walking Staff that is a level 22 staff (yes at 17) and has some great stats on it.

This is EverQuest after all.

aye
i followed Toxic's advice and got myself a "bulliten board" in my ghetto home section of town(scale yard) for a couple Sp. Its the EQ2 version of the bazaar for sure. Definitely the first thing u should work on getting. Right now i am bout to hit lvl 9 to get my Brawler status on Butcherblock server. Right now i have been steadily killing armidillos strait out from the FP gate. they drop a cheesey neck item worth a couple of silver which allowed me to get my bulliten board, which by the way u need to hang in your apt

You buy the bulletin board off a merchant near your room, and put it somewhere in your room. You click on that, and you start selling/buying junk. It's the EQ2 version of the bazaar. You just can't do the /ooc and /auction stuff, as far as I know. Makes a much better way of doing things IMO, because you don't get a bunch of spam from new traders and stuff. And you can do lots with that board, alot of different ways for you to sort things and stuff. You usually want to look for pristine stuff tho, because that will last best and you can use it for making better stuff later on too. Oh, the board looks like a fat barrel in the merchant window. And it should be the very first item on that particular merchant too.
