Can I run two accounts at the same time?Follow

I have two comps and was wondering how feasable it is to run two accounts and make my own group every time I log on.

I heard its too hard to do so, but I dont want to buy two accounts just to find out its not possible to have two toons running together at the same time.

I used to run my own group of two in EQ and was just wondering if it could be done here as well.

With two different computers it's technicially possible, but it would be enormously difficult in EQ2, which is much more a twitch game than EQ was. You'd be overwhelmed trying to run two accounts.

If you have 2 monitors, keyboards and mice, I don't see why not.

As RPZip said though, this game is a twitchfest. You would have to coordinate your numbered keys and fingers and just use them as you were playing a piano. With the proper training, you should be able to do it.

From a set up like this it would be better to duo since your priest/warrior will have a lot more to do keeping players healed or creatures taunted. It would get pretty hectic and if anyone died because of it...

It's not hard if you set your macro's up well.

Best bet is do what myself and a friend do. Set up a speed pad (if you have one) and let the good times roll. The macro commands (o for window) work great. With 20 buttons on a speed pad, and 2 sets of macro windows up, you can easily run the 'healer' bot.

Sure it takes practice but thats what the lower lvls are for. Deaths will happen occasionally but again for the freedom of running two accounts and always being able to group i think its well worth it.

I used to do this all the time on DAOC. I would use either two side by side computers, or a windower program.

Just min and max the character you need to use, and do what needs to be done. Granted it was a lot easier to do this on 2 computers, because you can just flip back and forth quicker.

I don't know what combo would be best here on EQ2, but on DAOC you could make a warrior and a bard, and level them both to 45-50 together without help.

i did the same thing in daoc, but it wouldnt work here. first, system specs would have to rock the charts, second, game is too hard to be switching back and forth, would kill ya...

Windowing
No way unless you manage to get the game to run on on a SGI development platform, not going to have the power to run two copies of the game at once.

Dou-Boxxing (two seperate computer)

Prepare for carpal tunnel :-) you will NOT be as effective as a single, but 'healer-n-warrior' combos should still work.

Try to keep the 'second' account as a back-up / non-major play. (healer/buffer)

Warrior - Priest I find doable (tested with a friends account)
Warrior - Bard might work (dont have one high enough to know how 'active' the bard can be or if he can concentrate on a few songs and stand back)

Warrior - Rogue would be hard to keep effective but a 'master' might be able to

Warrior- Mage would be easier then warrior rogue (since position of mage does not matter) but still alot hard (unless mage was nothing but a 'pet attack' bot)

Things to note:

As people above mentioned a 'well setup' secondary toon is very important. Make sure you can switch to them hit 1-2 keys get them to do what you want, then go back to the 'main'

Second on being feasilibe .. understand this will very on how much you can multi-task yourself.

For persepctive I regularly ran Monk-Shaman-Wizard combo in EQ, and on occasion ran SK-Monk-Shamna-Wizard (though 4 boxxing was a pain)

I would say EQ2 is about twice as hard. Dou-boxxing is somewhere between as hard as running three to four EQ accounts at once.

Peace
