Well, im having unbearable problems with zoning in this game. My comp has half a gig of ram and when i zone it takes 5-10 mins, it sometimes transfers me to the char select screen, and my lag is horrible in cities.
Is the answer: buy more ram????
P.S. it may be worth saying that my comp played ffxi great with almost no lag ever.

bear in mind FFXI is coded at the core to run on a PS2.. and that EQ2's graphic intensity is MUCH higher..
it's generally accepted that you really want 1GB of ram for EQ2.. more if you can afford it.
my specs:
3.16 Ghz P4 800mhz fsb
Radeon 9600XT
1GB ram PC3200
FFXI ran at 1600x1280 max detail all settings at maximum flawlessly..
EQ2 runs at 1152x864, high detail textures.. everything else is pretty much at default and I still get lag in Quenos.. I'm STRONGLY considering another 1GB ram soon and stepping up to a Radeon 9800XT early next year.

That's deffinatly the problem, upgrade that ASAP. My load times we're horrible till I went from 512 to 1 Gig. Makes a huge differance
