I think that may be going a bit overboard. EQLive has been out for five years, and they only have two boards. Let's not turn this into FFXI all over again.

totally agree.. spilt it up more. i like the way the ffxi forums are spilt. just a thought ^^

Perhaps some archetype specific boards, or one devoted to quests (like the EQLive boards), but there is no reason for Race, Class, Server, etc. boards this early in the game.

Hmm I dunno, Job forums were my favorite part of FF11 Allakazham. I usually stayed away from the main forum as it was cluttered with useless "baqst", "omg I h8 JP", "so what was your weekend like!" posts. :P

and when is the time? Smiley: wink2 I feel it is almost impossible to keep up with the posts here, not even mentioning other boards.

but, I can live without them just fine. doesn't kill me Smiley: grin or makes me Smiley: cry

I don't think we need as many forums as FFXI has, but this board certainly needs to be broken up a bit. At least a quest section, and maybe tradeskills? Like the rest of you, I can't keep up here, lol

The huge FFXi forums split is absolutely pointless. What would make sense, however, is something like;

Main EQ2 Forum
EQ2 Quest Forum
EQ2 Archetype Forum - Fighter
EQ2 Archetype Forum - Scout
EQ2 Archetype Forum - Mage
EQ2 Archetype Forum - Priest

I could definitely go for RPZip's suggestions. Split up by archetype, and one for quests (and possibly tradeskills) would be great.

Of course then that begs the question of what to discuss on the main board.

I agree totally. This place is getting really cluster-fuct. RPzip seems to have the right idea. It would be nice to break it down into all the subclasses as well when more people start to get to lvl 20. We don't want warlocks and necros and illusionists ect. all talking on the same board.
#14 Nov 19 2004 at 11:55 AM Rating: Decent
Why not? Class differentiation and subclass differentiation isn't extreme enough to warrant their own boards, which would be quite unused. Keeping the different Archetype forums together means they'll get a steady stream of traffic, and because many of the advice will be the same within the archtype there's no reason to split them up.

A mage is a mage is a mage. It doesn't matter how they achieve their goals (Pets, Mezzes, whatever); the basic strategy is similar. If you split it up into the 4 archetypes, the 12 classes and then the 24 sub-classes you're going to have a crapload of boards that will never, ever be used. I would, however, add a tradeskilling forum, making the total;

General Forum
Quest Forum
Tradeskill Forum
Fighter
Scout
Mage
Priest

Ok, you convinced me. Either way it's time to do this. My cheap *** will even sring for a premium membership once it's finished.

I agree with you RP:

General Forum
Quest Forum
Tradeskill Forum
Fighter
Scout
Mage
Priest

Except, I don't know if a tradeskill forum would be needed when the forums at EQ2 Trader's Corner are always top notch. And as for quests, I don't know, if I have a question on a quest, I usually look under that quest and then read/post there. As for the archetypes, certainly no more than that. If you split it up more you just wind up losing good info into subclass posts that is relevant to all members of that archetype.

Oh, I could probably use my own forum too. Smiley: grin

Yep its more than time to get this organized. We just need to get their attention. Kinda of like when your at a store and can't get anyone to help you, you just gotta start knocking things over. Works everytime, they come running. Just keep knocking this thread to the top.

Time will tell, but what about Predator versus Bard. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that they won't have that much in common. I could be wrong, as I know absolutely nothing about bards in this game as opposed to other games. Because everyone seems to have so many group abilities they may play similarly to predators and rogues for all I know.

In the end, it may be prudent to separate territary classes from the archetypes, but even if that is true at some point it definately isn't true now. Also, keeping them on the same board may eliviate some of the rivalries that could arise as the game progresses. We may find, however, that the things people talk about have nothing to do with the other classes at all. Time will tell.

In order to bump... I add my 2 coppers...

I'd like to see the quest and tradeskill specific threads have their own forum.

join other boards. I go to another forum for all my priest stuff. I got to eqtraders 2 for all trade skill stuff.

I agree with RPzip on having quest forum, tradeskill forum, and different archetypes forums. These way it'll be much easier to share and search useful information.

I'd rather not have to jump around to a lot of different boards. I've always liked Alla's site, so the more stuff I can find here, the better.
