#1 Nov 18 2004 at 5:45 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, just a quick newb question -- if I choose evil and friend chooses good; after we get out of Isle, we'll be able to group togehter right?

Thankies.

Wrong. At least not for a while.

Ok, thanks for the response. Do you know of somewhere that explains it?

If you are good, you go to Qeynos. If you are evil, you go to Freeport. Within each city is a quest that can be done once between levels 13 and 15. This quest allows you to betray your city. When completed, you are PERMANENTLY aligned with the other city. The quest is rumored to be long and hard, but I have not done it or know anybody that has done it.

Arvec is correct, he just got the levels wrong. The quest is from level 15-17. It requires killing 250 (I believe, it could be 500) goblins to switch to the good side as well as the quest itself.

Its pretty difficult and I wouldn't recommend it on your first character.

Oops heh. I THOUGHT what I had the option to do was the betrayal quest, but it must've been something unrelated. The guy said he knew where I slept and threatened to kill me if I told the guards about him when I refused his quest (I'm from Qeynos) and mentioned going to freeport on a boat, so I figured that was him. Oh well.

Thanks for all the info -- not trying to be toooo thick here- and I have searched the board; but I am still unclear on grouping together. Can a Woodlelf Ranger (Qeynos) and a HalfElf Inquisitor (Freeport) be in the same group and hunt together?

Yes you can. You are not restricted in any way towards other players. The evil/good alignment is only towards NPCs. You can group with an exclusively evil group with your holy paladin.

Thanks so much for the clarification.

Along these same lines, does anyone know at about what level traveling to the opposite areas is feasable? I have a friend or two in the "other" city, and I'm just wondering when I'll be able to go hook up with them.

Also, if anyone is this far along... Are there any merchants/banks at all accessible in opposite areas if I do decide to go pay him a visit. It would make it nearly impossible to function if not.

I have an aquaintance who got from Freeport to Qeynos at or before level 15 (he's 15 now, and in Qeynos). Not really sure how easy/hard it was. So it's possible by 15, feasibility depends on how much risk you qualify as feasible.

It's not so much risk; it's much more about the time you'll need to complete the quest. It takes bloody forever to kill all the Gnolls/Orcs you'll need to slay to finish the Betrayal quest.

however I was under the impression that the betrayl quest would be more difficult than that.. merely taking down a few hundred gobbies (ok LOTS of gobbies) isn't all that hard... sure it'll take a LONG time, but it's hardly difficult.

There's a few steps before it, but that's more or less the grind part of the quest. Remember, you do have to do this before level 18 and solo (well, for some parts), so there's only so much they could ask you to do.

true true...

do knocking down grey's count or is it only xp mobs? I would think grays would count though.. even taking on an endless stream of greens will eventually level you up.

Apperently you are capped at 17 +220% untill you finish the betrayal quest. Read the forum under the actual quest in freeport east zone. So you can kill all the goblins you want, but once your kicked out of your main city your stuck at 17 till you join the other one.
