whats the story with traditional roles now? can every race pick any class?
e.g. can a high elf wiz become a fighter (and, e.g. subsequently an SK)? or, a troll a mage, and after betrayal etc. a conjurer?

all right... my new computer will arrive tomorrow, EQ2 was in the mail today... so of course I am thinking about which class/race combo to pick. as all of you surely did ages ago too

You can pick 1 class to be at level 2 from the 4 basic classes. Priest, fighter, mage, scout. From there on you are that class you just have different subclasses. So if you pick mage you will always be a mage. At level you can decide what type of mage class (nuker, CC, pet). Then at 20 you become the good or evil version of that class that gets different abbilities.

Ya, you can pick whichever class you like. There's no restrictions. Personally, I think it's pretty cool when we have a troll priest or something like that in the group. Non-traditional races/classes don't seem to have any problems keeping up from what I've seen.
