Crashing when zoningFollow

#1 Nov 18 2004 at 5:26 AM Rating: Decent
About 1/4 of the time when i zone, my computer restarts. It's very weird, sometimes, it'll go for 7 or 8 zones without doing it, sometimes it'll do it twice in a row. ONLY when zoning though. I can play for 4 straight hours without zoning and never restart, or restart a dozen times in the same period with alot of zoning. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I just had a new RAM card put in my computer, and a new video card, but I would think that if there was a problem with either device, it would affect gameplay more than ONLY zoning, but I don't know anything about computer. I set my computer to tell me the problem when it restarted rather than just restarting and it mentioned "Check w/ Hardware Vendor for any BIOS update, disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing" does this mean anything to anyone?

I can still play of course, but it is sooooooooo annoying.

Thanks in advance for any advice

This happened to me occasionally, and less than its happening to you it seems.

I ran adaware (a spyware removal utility downloadable for free from lavasoft.com), toned down EQ2s graphics, and also defragged and I've not had the problem again.

I crash to desktop sometimes after zoning. I sent a /bug the last time it happened, not sure if its related but I have talked with other that have the same problem, so hopefully SOE is looking into it.
