do grey con monsters ever drop chests?Follow

i have been catching up on some old quests and have been killing tons of monsters far below my level- i realized that as far as i could tell none of them were dropping chests.

i wasnt paying much attention, so im not totally positive- could someone clear this up for me- do grey monsters ever drop chests?

if i come across a named monster who is grey- is there any point in fighting him or will i positively not get a chest?

if greys dont drop chests- what about no trade quest giving items that only come in chests- am i out of luck now as far as getting those quests?

That depends on the quest. I know that quest coins drop in chests, but I have not done one single quest where a needed quest item was actually a chest item. A collection quest, like collect 16 rough gems you will actually see them. But the IOR Brute quest where you needed 4 stone tipped spears or something like that, you never actually see those.

But if you actually wanted an item from a chest, you are out of luck, unless you can group with someone lower mabe that it is at least a green con to, but I have not tried that, and don't know if you can actually loot it.

I've had grey cons which were part of a kill task type quest drop chests before.

If the mob is grey you will not get a chest of any type. If you already got the quest from a chest then whatever the quest requires will still drop, even if it is grey. Take for instance the Shore Crab quest from the Isle of Refuge. Once you ding 4 I think it is, you cannot start the quest, period. It is started with an item dropped in a chest.

If you started the quest then dinged 4 or even 5 and 6 and kill grey crabs. You will still get the required item drops.

To summarize

Grey = No chests(quest or good drop)
