Well I am happyFollow

Was an original EQ player, migrated to DAOC then played SWG since its launch, and I have found that since starting EQ2 I have not enjoyed a game so much.

It is very well thought out, so far its quite balanced and pretty bug free. Some of the content I really like is:

1. When a grp member dies, EVERYONE get red xp. And so we should it is a group effort and if a chum dies we are all equally responsible.
2. The locking of groups and Mobs, Hated kill stealing and power levelling.
3. Spell effects are cool
4. Monetary/Loot system is well balanced with both NPC/Player Made and Quest driven upgrades.
5. Raiding is awesome.

Thats just a few things I like, anyone got any things they like about the game or dislike?

I like that eventually I will be able to play it, I dislike that I can't play it now :).

I also like the lock on engaged critters.
I have not grouped yet, but I like the concept that everyone gets dinged when one group member dies, I can't tell you how many times my cleric got nuked in a bad group on EQ1 'cause no one was watching. More incentive to work together for the good of all.
I love the graphics. If I'm gonna spend the amount of time staring at the screen that I anticipate, I like that the view is pretty, and that I can change the vantage point somewhat naturally. I had some fun last night just looking up down and around without the jarring change of camera views in EQ1.

I'm sure I'll meet some guy dying on purpose.

If someone dies puposly and you cant get out of group just LD your self restart you should be back at enterence of zone seems like SOE input that into game and find yourself another group :D I have no problem with the red exp thing other then when your group dies and people feel they should leave and your stuck making a new group to go recover your shard and regain lost exp.

I like all the things you said about it as well.

After waiting for 2 months for a party with FFXI (almost every night for 5 hours) my computer died. Canceled FFXI. Two months later got the PC up and running (funds and dealing with Asus stretched it out this long).

So I wanted a new game I selected Lineage II. At first I thought this game was nice because I can solo. I can level when I want, and where I want and not sit around and fish for 5 hours, or spend the night trying to make a group.

I quickly realized it was grouping that what made the game fun. I became board with the game and had a lot of dislikes about it. I thought that I was burnt out on MMOs.

At any rate Saturday last week I installed EQII and I’m hooked again. This game is great and I look forward to investing a lot of time in it.

I like a few things about EQ2

The fact that they addressed everything that annoyed me with the first EQ was a great way to start: locked combat, anti farm loot policy, Love the new targeting, love the setting, love the larger world, love the load balancing (Instanced Zones, if some place is over camped I try the next instance and I am done with my quest in no time), The graphics are beautiful, character design is nice (Hair could stand to look a little less "plastic" but Devs said they will work on it, fair enough). The Quest interface is very nice, and the quests themselves are well thought out...I actually FEEL rewarded when I get my reward (usually money and decent XP, sometimes an item). The voice acting, this was something I was absolutely dreading, but it turned out to be excellent, I am going to expect this from games from this point forward (Well written dialogue, have laughed many times). Christopher Lee was a very nice surprise to hear his voice when I clicked on the coin.
The way that the 4 classes branch out, Honestly I did not know what I wanted to be at first until I did the Hallmark trial and was presented with choice to be predator bard or rogue.

Heroic Opportunity has potential, so far Skill chains had more challenge, however I am enjoying the solo HO that are made available to me.

The new Good city/Bad city simplified faction system is VERY welcome, I really appreciate that, what a pain in the *** picking Velious factions for that armor was...had to pick that for an entire guild? *rolls eyes* but anyway this is not to talk of other games.

Crafting system, I don't have much comment on this yet, have not had a chance to try it out for very long, that is this weekend's project.

This is initial impression, I realize the game has just begun and this is only the tip of the iceberg here.

Let me start by saying I've only played a priest to level 6, but I don't like the locked system or the way you heal people in this game. For healing especially I should be able to just cluck the minor heal icon and then click on the player I want to heal. Instead I have to actually target the player and heal him which means I can't keep the mob targeted to melee or cast a spell on it. It's the little things like this that really bug me about the game.

You know if you have someone targeted and you hit attack or cast a damage spell it will effect whatever mob they are fighting. Half the time when I'm in a group I just keep the main tank targeted so I make sure to assit him/her if I'm having any lag issues that are making it hard for me to target the right mob.

As a cleric I always target the main puller/tank, I use group reactive heal just before the pull and keep a solo reactive going on the main tank.

If required I use minor healing or an arch heal to keep him above 60%. On occasion whilst keeping him targeted I will smite...it hits his targeted mob as an assist.

Also use the cure poison/disease spells as required.

So I never have had a problem with targeting. In a good group with crowd control you should only need to target and heal the main tank. Of course the crap does hit the fan and thats where clear thinking and non panicking helps.
