Class ADD?Follow

#1 Nov 17 2004 at 12:44 PM Rating: Good
Is anyone experiencing this? I don't know what's wrong with me lately. I'm all fired up to play EQ2, I rush to the store and get it, and now that I have it, I barely play.

I can't seem to focus on any one job. I have a Crusader, a Scout (going Ranger), a Priest (going Templar) and a Mage (Going Wizard). I'm having fun with all of them, but it's really been stunting my advancement in any one job. My guild is light years ahead of me.

It's not that I'm not enjoying myself per se, but rather that I wish I could focus. >_< Am I alone?

I got a chuckle out of this because I had this problem in EQL. :)
I'm still level 52 after 5 years. I've literally have at least a couple dozen characters over 40. I just spread them all out too much... never concentrated on one.

In EQ2 though I am having a great time with my one character. I created one of each Archtype but don't even have a desire to play the others... Far to wrapped up in my Brawler. :)

Sounds like me in FFXI. There really wasn't anything I could focus on, and I had a hand in all of the jobs (even though I got RDM to 56...)

For me, I'm very focused on my one class. I created a Gnome Mage but haven't even gotten him off the island yet.

If I could switch classes on a whim like I could in FFXI, then perhaps I'd be having the class ADD, but to me, it's just too much of a hassle to go back and find quests that you've already done, run around the zones more and more. =P

Or maybe I just really really like my cleric... Meh, who knows? hehe

just kidding, lol i've had a bit of the same problem. in eq1 i choose a wizard to start with and the thought of alt's in the beginning was appauling b/c all I wanted to do was advance my wizard. then after capping out and starting alts, I learned to love all the classes so much that now in EQ2 i can't make up my mind!!!

I guess one of my characters will start to prove more fun then the others eventually and i'll make him my main.

*laugh*, I've never been able to focus on a single class in any mmog I've played. Playing the same thing all the time gets stale to me after a while, so I happily rotate alts. 'course, it's a mite troublesome if you're in a guild intends to always level together, but matters less in a guild that's held together by something other than grouping.

For reference, in FFXI I ended up with 5 jobs between 30 and 45 and nothing above it. My linkshell loved me - whenever someone wanted to level a sub-job, I always had something at about their level :p

Anyhow, keep at it! Variety is the spice of life!

I think many ppl will be changing clases constantly in EQ2. There are so many choices thats its near impossible to choose. I have a Troll Warrior and he is hellah fun to play but when i'm sitting here at work I'm always thinking...."hrmmm I should make a templar....no I like fury....ranger looks cool" and then you know there will be threads saying "wow I have a dirge and hes so awesome!" and then i'll be wondering about that too. ARG. I think I'm just goin to bully around makin money with my warrior and then just change over to something else when I've actually made up my mind.

For some reason Gnome Warrior has been taunting me to play it.

Also Ogre Enchanter because of old school RPG's that always had those buff ogre mages :P

Or hrmmmm maybe a Troll Cleric.

If you can't tell I like playing the odd man out :P

Well, I do like my Crusader. I took Paladin rather far in FFXI, and I loved tanking. I still do. I do feel a bit less special as a Crusader, simply because other jobs can do my job too (unlike FFXI, where there were really only 2-3 tanks). Also, I feel like I'd be limiting myself by only playing a job I know (at least in concept).

I love my scout. I've been having a lot of fun with him. The different way of approcaching situations and dealing with mobs is really interesting to me.

Priest hasn't gotten very far yet, but I know how valuable they can be in the game. I like the idea of being a key member of any party that I get into, and I enjoy that I can still do things other than heal from time to time. (Although I understand that may not always be the case, depending.)

Mage has been extremely fun. Sure, I only have a few spells, but I do rather well on very strong mobs for my level. It's pretty amazing to just blast a mob into smithereens.

Anyway, I'm still deciding, but at least I'm having fun while doing it! :D In the meantime, I hope that I'll make some friends in this game one day. I miss those the most. ;_;

The only "problem" I have is that I only have 4 available slots to make characters. lol.
