Ok I ran into something yesterday I'd like to vent on. I was in a group killing dervishes in maze and we were rockin the nmed mobs and getting some pretty sweet drops. Only problem was I was getting no lots at first. No big deal really. Well finally I get something and its Adept1 heal. There was a cleric in the group and he asked to buy it from me. I then told him its free and traded it over.

I think if you are running an effective group and theres people in group that need these books that you should lot or trade them to them. I think it keeps a group solid and maybe if they ever land a warrior skill book you'll get yer payback :p

Well later on that day I land a group and there was a pred and an ench. The ench landed a pred skill book and the pred offered to buy and the ench wouldn't give it to him. Maybe he had an alt or maybe he had a friend that might need it but I was wondering what everyones opinion was on this.

Personally if anyone in group needs a book i'll trade it off. If they don't need it I'll keep it an auction it.

Any XP groups I have ever been in (EQ, EQ2, SWG, FFXI) it has always been FFA regular drops, roll for good drops, and over all else - Need Before Greed.

If a Priest only item drops, and I am not a priest, then I ask the priest if he can honestly use it, if he can then i hand it over no problem. If he says 'don't worry about it, I got better' then I will just keep to sell later.

Same thing in my groups. If someone can use it, they get it. I got an Adept 1 book that I won't be able to use till next level last night, and we handed out Adept 1 Feign Death to our Brawler and something else to our Summoner.

IMO, it makes the group better and should not be kept just for money purposes.

Unfortunately, for every good person who conducts thier group like that there will always be the group member or leader who is extremly greedy. I've even heard the excuse that someone is going to use it later on an alt they haven't even made instead of giving it to a group member who actually needed it at the moment

Yeah, the "I might need it" mentality. Either that, or they are just going to sell it for their own gain instead.

Had someone offer to buy a quest item off of me, so I told him he could buy it for half of that price he offered because he said he "needed" it. After I sold it to him, he said he was going to sell it to someone else for twice the original price - the one that I discounted because he "needed" it. When confronted, he said he needed the money he gets from selling it, as if nobody else in the group did. I would've been more upset if I didn't succinctly find an item worth several times the value of that one - after the leader booted him from the group for taking advantage of me.

But back to the point of the thread. If it's something I can't use that someone else can, it's theirs.

If I can't use it, I don't get into the lotto for the item.

Well if I can't use it i'm still lotting it. I usually don't pay so much attention because most of the time I'm just lotting while I'm fighting and I later realize what I got :p

Same with me I will still lotto but for a different reason. Every group I have been in has one of those people who take everything they get. If I am in the lotto his chances of getting it are lower and I can give it to the person who needs it. Until I am grouped with nice people this is what I am going to continue to do i guess.
