The trick with kids is to get them playing too. At one point we had 6 pc's running EQ1. Our oldest (17) dual boxed a beasty and a cleric, middle child (16) was a ranger, youngest (14) was a warrior and hubby and I were pally and druid. Lol, worked out great - family time and EQ! We only have one, our middle in EQ2 but we're working on it!

I will be in the dog house soon if I don't upgrade the second computer.

My Girlfriend plays, too. I really made things nice when I got her the Collectors Edition instead of the regular, so that she could have a Dragon (which she loves), but she is getting tired of the low quality graphics on her computer.

It was almost 5 years ago when a friend of mine said to me " you should check out this game EQ ". I was off work due to illness so cleaning my house 10 times a day LOL. I wasnt into video games at the time and kinda of laughed it off for a few months until I got so bored I had to try it . At first I hated it as I didnt understand anything ( having never played online games before)no one would talk to me , I could hail them until my eyes popped out and no reply ( say hello to a npc ) .

After a few weeks I started to learn a bit and actually learn how to kill a mob , I was hooked . My hubbie got sick of comming home from work only to see the back of my head all night , so he started a char to see what I was going on about all the time . He loved it :) I was happy at first as he didnt get mad at my game time anymore , but now when he got home he wanted my PC to play his char . Red alert, big trouble in little China , hubbie isnt mad anymore but now he is taking up about 4 to 5 hours of my gaming time a night LOL. We got a second pc as soon as my hubbie got into it enough to see why I sat there so sad while he used my pc to play my hobby,, oops I mean our hobby /grin

Anyway I am very lucky IMO , we run 3 pc`s on a network now and they are very close to each other . So we sit and chat while we play , have a 3rd pc up for info and such . We look at EQ2 like others look at golf or snowboarding , its our hobby and we enjoy playing together . We save tons of money , no more exp nights at the bar or even take your family to a movie and for dinner and watch how much money you spend .

My hubbie also understands why I would need a $300. video card LOL , or want more Ram then the sales guy says could ever be used by any program today ( has never played EQ), he gets it and feels the same way . I love pc and Eq stuff for holidays , a new expansion , or more ram is just as exciting to me as diamonds are to some ladys ( mind you they are pretty). A whole night thats quiet , no phone ,no kids , no work , just game time for the hubbie and I , thats awesome to me . I would pick that over going out anyday . We do take time every week out of game to keep life rolling along , deal with normal life issues . We Have dinner at the table everynight ( not sat ) as a family and chat about our days .

My son plays as well and being that he is 16 and has an active social life he doesnt play much but , when he spends a night at home if it wasnt for eq2/eq1 he would sit in his room on the PC ( msn , yahoo, chat sites), on the phone , TV,stero cranked , maybe xbox or PS2 going on in there as well LOL. With EQ2 when he takes a night off and stays home now he logs in and spends the night playing with mom and dad , I like it :)

We do argue about game stuff, He thinks We can do anything . A 6 pack of double over con yellows can be done with a pally and chanter you know LOL . I played a cleric in Eq1 so it really used to get to me but I have learned to adjust to his play style . I find it makes me laugh more offten then not now that I play a chanter .

I've been married for 10 years and no amount of trying will get my wife to be a gamer. In fact she is convinced that she has cured me of my geekiness (computer and r.p. games). She knows that I bought EQ2, but I try not to play when she is around. I usually logon after she goes to bed.

My sleep is suffering considerably since she usually goes to bed around 10:30 - 11:00 pm and I need to get up for work around 5:30 - 6:00 am. Sleep? who needs sleep!
