How to stop eating food!?Follow

Once you chose the option to eat when hungry or drink when thirsty, you can't seem to turn it off until you run out of food. If I'm running around doing quests or simply standing idle, selling stuff in my room, I don't want to waste food.

I have to place my food in a bank to stop. There's gotta be a better way.

I noticed the same thing when I woke up this morning from selling items all night and my expensive food was gone. I was going to put it in the bank tonight when I set up to trade. If you find a better way let me know please.

I have wondered that myself, leaving my character on while I doze for a few hours, forgetting that i have food in my tanned leather ruck sacks. Alas there is no way to turn it off other than putting it in the bank, but that is more work than meant. I have gotten into the habit of checking my buff line for the Food and Water icons, if they are flashing, then I need to eat and drink again, otherwise I will notice after a hard battle and I am not gaining mana and health back regularly. I am sorry to ruin your hopes, but I have not found a way.

What does food and drink even do? I can't tell a difference from not eating, eating rations or eating something I have prepared? Is there a point to eating and drinking? Do certain foods and drinks help you in some hidden way?

Eating and drinking helps with power and health regen I believe. I have noticed a fair increase in my power regen when I have food and drink set to eat/drink when hungry/thirsty

Food and drink dramatically increase your regen rate for both health and power outside of combat.

Ya, the rate difference is extremely noticable IMHO. I can't stand the regen rate w/o food.

Food & drink increases HP & Power regen speed. Different types have different potencies and last for different amounts of time. I've only seen 'normal quality' buffs, or whatever they call it, with the duration varying between 15 mins and an hour.

It's definitely worth the price, anyhow.

Edit: Gee, I must obviously learn to type faster if I want to be first to the answer around here :p

Is that all it does though? Or are there any other effects?

Do better food and drink increase the regen rate more? Is there an advantage to eating something other than rations and water?

I've also wondered if more expensive foods have extra effects besides extended duration and faster regen.

Better foods last longer, meaning you dont go through the food and water as fast, meaning you dont have to come in from adventuring to purchase supplies as often. It is also possible that you may get stat increases (temp bonus) while eating the higher end foods.

Remember that you can always right click on the food icon in the buy window if you want to see any extra stats. If there are no stats there, then it's probably just normal food. Though I'm unsure about it lasting any longer. I've always had food that lasts the same amount of time (15 minutes) as the water and bread I started out with.

well, if u right click the food or drink in your inventory, it gives you a list of options...like Eat now, Eat when hungry, things like that....

I just go to that menu and tell it not to eat.

The option to "Stop Eating" is not present in the list, unless it was just added in todays patch.

I don't know how to stop eating and drinking, which has frustrated me also, but I was using cold beer in my last party and my power regen was much better than water! :p

CaptainCalicoJack says: Hey, there, don't pull! There's 10 of them there mobs and there all yellow!

Group: No, man, there's only 5...

CaptainCalicoJack says: ...

CaptainCalicoJack falls over.

Anyway... Smiley: tongue

I use my summoned food so yeah, I don't really care if I run or our w/e. I'm pretty sure clerics can summon food for other people, so if you're in the field ask your local cleric to summon you some food if you're out. Ours disapears when you log out, but you'll get 30 minutes per item and 5 of each per cast.

Ya, I think you just have to eat to survive kind of thing.
I've tried both options on the food menu as well, and nothing works.
Hmmm, I wonder if I should put my food in the bank and see what happens when I don't eat for an hour or so lol.

If you have previously clicked on food and drink and selected to eat when hungry, to stop the auto feeding option simply drop the food in the bank and go get it later. When you are hungry it looks for the food in the pack cant find it and stops! You are then safe to put the food back in your pack. If you have spare food, carry that as it wont get eaten unless you specify it. Then when that is finished go get your banked food.

I hope that makes sense.

Cheers

I crafted some sugar pecans for fun and ate one, it indicated I had eaten a home-made meal and it lasted twice as long as the normal bread ration.

Well I also wish there was a stop eating function. But i do like that you can not starve from not eating you just do not regen as fast. Noticed this when I left my guy selling stuff for 10hrs with no food. If they dont have a stop eating function at least have it so you dont eat food when you are in your house.

I feel your pain, the only way to stop yourself from eating is through willpower and dedication. When most people diet, they try to forgo everything at once, which is a very difficult way to do it. You have to find healthy alternatives to the things you love to eat. Whatever you do, don't just stop eating altogether as the original post suggests, that almost always leads to you dying. Just remember if you can't do it, that there's almost nothing wrong with being fat. Hope that helps, lol.

if you do not eat and drink the only penalty is slower health/power regen
