The name of the game is Brawling, monks and bruisers welcomed... warriors and crusaders, the door is over there
*points to the old worn out door for his inn room*

Basically I'd like to keep this thread all brawler info all the time. Post any info on weapons, armor, and abilities.

I found my attack to be higher with out weapons then if I use a mace, have not tried secondary weapons tho... so dunno if there worth it or not.

I have found similar. I'm only slightly better with my blackened Staff than my bare hands. When I grabbed a single Dual wield weapon (knuckle dusters or something like) I my attack rating was cut in half!

I don't know if dual wields are supposed to be used exclusively in pairs but I guess that theory could answer the problem.

You have broken the first rule about Fight Club!
#5 Nov 16 2004 at 1:06 PM Rating: Decent
technically no one has talked about fight club outside of this thread.
if i get the spare Silver i'll toss on some burlap fist wraps and see if i can also equip a single handed weapon on my prime spot. dunno if thats possible tho.

I'm still debating between Monk and Bruiser. I want someone to expalin to me please, which races can be Monk, and which can be Bruiser. Also are their stat differences between the two? Do the two look any different with higher level gear? Lastly, do they get any different skills?

Thanks. :)

Hey I want to become a brawler but am having trouble getting past the quest and need some help. I have to fight 4 people in the dojo. The first one is kinda tough but pretty easy in the end. The second one KICKS MY A$$! The only thing I can figure is that I've been relying on a sword in my hand up until this point, maybe I need to stroll around the wide world of Antonica and beat some mobs with my bare knuckles to get my skill up. Anyone else have trouble with this? Any tips?

to the first question, Any good / neutral race can start in Qeynos and be a monk, otherwise u gonna have to do a betrayal quest. on the same note evil/ neutral staret in freeport and can be bruisers.

Brawlers use maces, fist, etc Crushing weapons is the weapon of choice for Brawlers.
Tip kill the LB guy fast here is the way i beat it. Start heroic chance wild swing > taunt > kick, repeat. umm I also think I had assualt buy this time, could be mistaken but if you do u can use it when you have to fight the two guys at once. Remember Heroic chance is key to winning this fight.

ok ppl all of u go into your bosses office today/ tomorrow, beat the everliving juices out of yourself, start screaming, LOUDLY, then tell your boss simply send me my check for 40 hours of work in the mail, and keep sending it till I either call and tell you to stop or you die.

I would if I thought I wouldn't immediatly be removed from the compound by cops and sent to a lock up in a straight jacket. I don't really like the idea of not having access to a computer with EQII.

Dual weilding nomad walking sticks... think thats the name, very very very nice +8 agi and added decent amount to my attack.

Made a Ikky bruiser and put a 2HB on his rockin lizzy azz. Now the delay is a bit slower, but when u factor in that all ur special attacks are key activated i think the high DMG output of the 2HB is a component of ur special attacks cuz my ikky is dishing out MASSIVE damage - espcecially on my heroic attacks...
Now i could be wrong on this sooooo - i need a couple peeps out there to help me verify this theory so i know this isnt just me.
RULE #2 is ....
If i am right ... u dont talk to Sony about 2HB ... er .. i mean FIGHT CLUB !!

#19 Nov 22 2004 at 11:00 PM Rating: Decent
oh ya one other thing - its also funny as hell to see the look on other's faces as i solo the 4 mobs that just chased their GROUP out of the zone !

LMAO

2hb= 2 hand bo?

IF yes then yea thats what i'm using right now as well and i dish out major damage. Also swinging that bo around just looks so sweet. :)

#21 Nov 22 2004 at 11:41 PM Rating: Decent
nope not using the bo. i am using some hammer i picked up for cheap from a brocker - better stats than the bo

hmm i found when ever i equiped a 2 handed weapon my attk drop dramatically, I still like the damge im dishing with the 2 nomad walking sticks. not massive single hits but medium to high hits, also find that i get a lot of hate making tanking a bit tough for others in pts I join

ok this thread has gone to page 2 and i really dont want to see it die so i am posting a bit more info about my brawler so i hope this helps some people.
1st it looks like the 2 hand blunt/bash weapon theory is confirmed. i bought a pair of walking sticks (duel wield weaps) that each had like a 6-15 dmg per hit and 1.7 sec dly and i compared them against my 2 hand blunt hammer i am using ( called a poorly crafted iron hammer or sompthin like that) which had a 7-24 dpm per hit and a 2.4 sec delay on it.
the test was simple - i fought 20 mobs of the same kind and the same difficulty ( same color index) and used the exact same special attack button orders...which i have lined up in hot key order of how fast they are reusable xcept the 3 i use to chain a heroic opp ortunity. 10 mobs with the duel wields and 10 with the 2HB hammer. it is also a point to note that the hammer was considered almost absolete (green) and the sticks were considered barely used ( amber). also my atk rating went down 12 points when i equiped the hammer which btw has no stats on it ( agi, str, etc)
the result was very conclusive i believe.
EVERY mob fought with the 2hb weap was defeated about 20-30% faster. faster kill means less dmg taken. also my max heroic opp dmg was 42 with the sticks - it was 60 with the hammer. in fact all my special attacks ( including kick) seemed to have been increased by my hammer's higher dmg rating but the dlys of my special attacks remained unchange.... sooooooo even tho i got one less melee attack in and my nomal melee attack dly was longer i was still getting much more damage per second in with my 2hb
this raised an issue for me tho...
what if later in the game i wanted to switch to duel wield or one hand weaps - would i have to train them ?
as far as i can tell the answer is no - been using my hammmer for almost 6 lvls strait an my slashing, staff, duel wiels, and fist skills are all maxed - aparently they stay that way - or so it seems.

feel free to try this out for yourselves and i hope this post helps for what its worth. if any of u out there can confirm any of this as well let me know.

Hmm interesting post, but i got some info for all you guys, will respond to last post at end of the info.

I spoke to the captain lady in WFP to start my bruiser quest, sorry to all the qey brawlers out there /cry.

She tells you to obtain some dervish information, and to look out for some one with a note. Well of course like a regular normal chemically ballanced person I figure person with note... Messenger outside of FP, nope that was wrong. Then i figure ok let me kill some dervish cuthroats, nope wrong again. Then i finally got rly smart.... and asked a bruiser what I had to kill, Props to Rydikk on Unrest server, He told a Dervish go between, or somthing like that.
The dervish go betweens can be foun near the ruins of Valmarr/ yapping maze. I found my conviently located at the point where the ruins and the yapping maze are very close, for those of you who kno the ruins of Valmarr, its the side of the ruins where the revival spawn point is. Bring someone with track, to help you out.
At lvl 18 with a full pt it was an ultra easy fight, it appeared as a blue (solo) mob and dropped the letter right away, dont know if im lucky or if it always drops the letter for you.

Hmm interesting but I find myself able to keep hate better with my dualweild then without, and that the +8 agi does make a difference, I will have to do further testing. I would also like some input from Bruisers and monks, with info on what they use and their damage and accuracy.
#26 Nov 25 2004 at 2:08 AM Rating: Decent
I finished second part( and final part) of bruiser quest today.

*Does happy happy dance*

Ok so she tells you to go down to Serpent sewer after you give her the note.
First thing you do is head to bigbend, and enter the theives way from there, then u head strait north and you will find zone entrace for Serpent sewers.

might wanna have a lvl 23 person come along with you just so you dont get any aggro while on your way to storage room, though you could most likely handle the mobs on the way there, still make your life easy and ask a friend for help, or a stranger^^.

Once in the sewers, from the thieves way entrance, you are going to follow the left wall, there will be one turn off but its a short dead end, just keep following the left wall. You will quickly come upon the entrance to the storage room.

Once inside you will find a ring of about 10 or so Dervishes, and one large blue con dervish in the center... seems like hes in some kinda boxing match.

Get ready throw martial focus and toughness on then step into the circle and the big blue guy will attack you. kill him... duh. about at half HP two of the Blueguys friends, the dudes standing in the circle will jump in and start to attack you. dont worry about them finish off the blue dude first, then quickly dispatch with the lil buggers who decided they wanted to die also.

I waited till lv 19 to attempt this part because at 19 you get a kick *** ability known as Rapid strikes.
You can most likely complete this quest at 18, however do this at your own risk.
I finished the 3 mobs off and the rest ran away, thank god, and i had about 55-60%hp and 30-35% power left.
I had two nomad walking sticks equiped as my weapons.

Good luck with your quest guys.
